Theory: The team's new nomadic lifestyle could pay off

Obviously, the bears' recent "schizophrenia" has been thoroughly discussed. They play well at home and tank on the road. Many think this is because they were one of the few teams in the country that practiced in their home stadium, creating a sort of "home schooler syndrome." By that I mean, they were like the home schooled kid who flourishes in the secure, comfortable environment created by his parents, but loses all confidence in any change of setting.

Seems to me, this could work the other way now that the team has been forced to become nomads, i.e. busing around to different high school fields, using temporary facilities, getting used to new digs at AT&T, etc. Couldn't this foster a sort of "circle the wagons, team matters, we'll-play-anywhere-just-give-us-a-ball-and-a-field" mentality? It may be wishful thinking, but I guess we'll see in a few months... Would love to see an overall improved confidence level this fall.

I think JT or one of the coaches actually mentioned this back in the Spring that this would benefit the team regarding away games.....good observation

Another theory I've heard is that if you do practice in your home stadium, home losses are more "traumatic" - some other team came onto your field, where you spend all your practice time, and beats you. I can't even imagine how 48-14 against Furd must have gone down.

I never considered that but it makes a lot of sense.

Re the Furd game, have you noticed how you can't turn on College Football Live these days without seeing a puff piece on Luck, and how every puff piece on Luck is led off by that clip of Cattouse bouncing off of him. Unfortunately, we helped cement Luck's all-star status that day with horrendous "tackling."
