Ok...football season is starting. Curious to know what you listen to when watching highlights, reading BI or when you just want to get amped for the upcoming season....

California Football baby...Speakers on high...STAND AND DELIVER GENTS!

My picks:
1) Cal Band Drumline

2) Ty$ Ft. Kid Ink - All Star (Remix) it's the 3rd one down after opening the link...just gotta get through the stupid ads...
http://mp3searchy.com/download/Ty$_Allstar.html

3) 50 cent vs. Eminem vs. Linkin Park Mash Up

4) Cal Band Drumline Again

5) Rihanna and Mims

6) Metallica Whisky in the Jar

Looking forward to some rap, metal and classic rock calls...

it's math metal---so it might not suit everyone ...i've been playing guitar for a long time so I really like technical stuff, with odd-meters (ala tool)

but really--if there was a zombie apocalypse...I want this song to play... or this song by protest

pumps me up beyond belief---also look up the lyrics pretty epic and entertaining.

also just fast forward to 3:28 if you want to hear the part that makes me want to kill all the zombies in Blood Meat
blood meats about ghengis khan and kublai khan [sic both] and the second song is about heavens gate cult

if this doesn't work then

killswitch engage: end of heartache. or
audioslave: gasoline
bullets and octane: pirates
dropkick murphies: bagpipes (on the meanest of times)
flogging molly: rebels of the sacred heart
kanye west: dark fantasy (not sure why it makes me pumped, but it does hah)
Killswitch Engage: this is absolution
lamb of god: redneck
mastodon: blood and thunder
metallica: suicide redemption (BEST metallica pump up song ever, and I'm a life long metallica fan)....
metallica: trapped under ice
muse: fury
pantera: revolution is my name
red hot chili peppers: sir psycho sexy (more swag then pumped haha)
soundgarden: outshined
stone temple pilots: down
tad: luminol

there we go that's my list haha

btw, just so everyone knows I'm not only a metal fan, this was the pump up list...
favorite bands (among many) are muse, mars volta, qotsa, tool, eodm, protest the hero, drive by truckers, CSNY, black keys, soundgarden, alice in chains

phew now i'm exhausted.

I like it. It kind of reminds me of the Marz Volta.

The only metal I've been listening to these days is Stonerish

Wow these guys have changed since blindfolds aside (back when I was at Cal) and I gotta say not for the best. I sense the marketing honchos installing a formulaic sound here. I'll check out there new album though. Havent heard them in years. It would be good to pick your brain about some of this stuff. Personally, I listen to darker metal, doom, goth etc. Though I pretty much stayed with melodic hardcore with music that would get me amped for the student section. Check out the now disbanded Beloved (guitar player with cal shirt = awesome):

starts slow but amps up nicely towards the end.

Last I remember, dillinger escape plan was a good mathcore band. And if that didnt do the trick, there is always Canadian deathcore:

Despised icon is pretty brutal. And to go along with your dropkick murphy's I would listen to death before dishonor...little irish connection there.

Cheers!

Whenever I see the 07 Tennessee or Oregon highlights its like a dagger remembering how good that team would have been had Nate not gotten hurt. So friggin loaded on offense. the D wasn't very good but we would have outscored just about everyone we played.

I disagree vehemently---i've been a fan since blindfolds aside and I think they have only progressed...Fortress has become one of my favorite albums EVER and scurrilous is great (growing on me every day)...I'm into alot of different metal as wel. I love DEP also as you explained...most of the bands you mentioned are somewhere in my liking...go and listen to protest's fortress and scurillous it's really great...i think that blindfolds aside is my least favorite album of the 3 now...btw, they are really nice guys haha

psopus is great, mastodon is great, LOG (duh), the human abstract, and for tech death (not my favorite but still) alarum or atheist....i also like the day everything became nothing....still like drive like jehu and don callabero--but i'm just starting to sound like an ass now---there are so many great styles of music, music is not in the dark ages, it's in it's best (arguably)

Josh Homme was their guitar player. Kyuss minus Josh Homme are actually going on tour with The Sword this fall. I might have to go check that out

OK, sounds like I have some listening to do! Time to play catch up with those new records. Thanks! Tech death huh? I gotta see this.

The human abstract I also cooled off on, how about devil wears prada, misery signals, norma jean?

I agree about yout take on the dark ages. Disagree about the sounding like an ass part. :beer:When I think I cant find another Burzum, people like Wedard pop up. Its a vicious cycle...sign me up!

The best music was during the '06 season at the height of the hyphy movement...coach littlejohn, Dante, marshawn, bishop, hawk, peele, etc would get all hyped in a circle before the game....got me jacked up!
