The "Larry Scott" thread below got me wondering about the stadiums where the Pac-12 teams will play their home games this year. What is the order of their locations from west to east?

Guess (eyeballing map):

OSU
Oregon
California (SF)
Washington
Stanford
USC
UCLA
WSU
Arizona State
Utah
Arizona
Colorado

[Wow -- a lot of these seem very close -- several tossups]

OK -- I edited it. I had typed USC in a second time, intending to put WSU there. Good catch.

That's cool that we have the 3rd most leftist stadium.

Well, to be fair, it isn't our stadium. Washington may jump in front of us when we move back to Memorial next year.

[By the way, my answers are not necessarily definitive -- I just eyeballed it from a map]

This is really troubling information. We should seriously consider moving our stadium further west, like out to the Farallon Islands.

Maybe we could anchor a barge out there and play our games there. Before you scoff, remember that John L, Sullivan fought a championship fight on a barge on the Hudson River.

"The match went 119 rounds, and when it ended Thomas McCoy was dead"

Sinical: for the origin of freedom fries, you'll have to look further north to Belgium, mon ami!

I'm lazy. Where does our home-away-from-home, AT&T, sit?

Solid research and good work, but the original question was ".... where the Pac-12 teams will play their home games this year. What is the order of their locations from west to east?"

As you know, Cal will be playing their home games at AT&T Park in San Francisco this year, not Memorial Stadium in Berkeley.

I estimated that AT&T was west of Husky Stadium and had us third on the list. rather than fourth, as you have. I don't have the longitude for AT&T Park. Can you please post it and let me know if my guess was correct. It looks like a close call.

Thanks.

So, Cal leapfrogs Husky Stadium for one year.

By the way, when UW moves to CenturyLink Field for the Apple Cup this year and for 2012, they will be slightly west of Husky Stadium, but still east of AT&T Park at longitude 12219′54″W.

If they split the conference this way, the east division would be horrible

Well, if they went by campus location, rather than stadium location, we'd get ucla in the West rather than sc.

that the only difference between an East-West split based on stadium location and the current line-up is that USC would be in the West division and Washington State would be in the East division?

If we were to base it on campus location, the East-West split would see UCLA in the West division and Washington State would be in the East division. Similar switch in that a Southern California school would be in the West division while the other Southern California school with Washington State would be in the East division.

But you don't split rivalry pairs. Therefore, UCLA and USC would be in the East division, while Wazzu and UW would be in the West division. Same alignment as today's North and South Divisions.
CalBear68

OK -- Let's stick with the North/South split and then go by campus location. That would put the all the CA plus AZ schools together. Then maybe we could rename the divisions to the Southwest and Wilderness Divisions.

Just a thought.
