Arrogant, don't care about anybody in their conference but themselves, this will backfire, hahahahahaha what a joke, no wonder everyone hates them, this is the death of the Big12....

did I miss anything?

Haha, it's not a cable network, just a digital network. Maybe it's news to someone in Kasnas, but the internet is not new and they are not the first to do this. It's subscription based and they are getting no carriage fees from cable or bounty money from ESPN.

What in the wide, wide world of sports is going on here? Next thing you know Drake U. will be doing the same thing. I guess Toto is still in Kansas!rooling

I am sure the B12 commish will step forward at this opportunity to demonstrate that other teams in the B12 have networks just like the Longhorn Network... see it's not at all inequitable :rollinglaugh:

a difference without a distinction, IMO

the only reason it's not on cable is it's because it's k-state

both are revenue generating, and both aren't "sharing" w/ the rest of the conference

this is basically the interwebs version of the LHN

Seems like this whole conference realignment shakeout is revealing that there are three kinds of schools out there:

1) Schools that hold all the cards (Texas, Notre Dame)
2) Schools that don't quite hold all the cards, but still have some negotiating clout (KU, A&M)
3) Schools that everyone laughs at.

KSU = 3.

what makes it inequitable is that there will be viewers for one of those networks, and none for the other

The distinction is that Texas' third tier rights are getting $15million+ per year while K-State is getting basically jack for their third tier rights. All of which was and is allowable according to the previous B12 TV contracts and those agreed upon last year. It would have been allowable for any P10 team to do the same before 2012.

I have no doubt that ESPN will eat a big turd on this deal. Subscription based internet brings in peanuts compared to cable based monthly fees - one draws from people who chose to watch, one skims a little off of every subscriber. Of course, you need subscribers, and ESPN/LHN have none. That's a nice fat zero until they bring the price down a lot.

I'm also laughing at the fact they call it K-StateHD.TV. HD my arse. My money says it looks like garbage on a 40+ in TV. I have MLBHD streaming and it's barely tolerable even with an upgraded cable internet connection. Not to be elitist, but I doubt a lot of subsribers in Kansas even have fast enough internet (on the same point, most people don't have fast enough internet). Hell, I live in a pretty decent area, and the phone company still hasn't upgraded DSL to modern speeds (though they still charge $$ for it).

So glad P12 Net will roll out smoothly w/o the need to rely on internet streaming.

they are doing the same thing (third tier broadcasting), but one will make money and the other won't; both are allowed to do so under their contract

I wish Cal had such a service last year, and this year also.

Go ahead 510, climb back in to your virtual broadcast executive bubble. Do you get more Latte points when someone responds to you?

Who are you to say what is of viewing value to a college sports alum? Is it all just dollars and sense?
