Do we talk about recruiting here anymore?

Because it sure doesn't seem like it. Seems like a few Cal football threads and then tons of random stuff. Then anytime people put any good info on the board about recruiting there's a whistleblower (Not Moraga) saying not to give info they deem as "Premium" despite the fact that no rules have actually been broken. I hope going forward that info given with in the rules is appreciated instead of sh1tted on. We are mostly all on the same team here.

I hear that one of the little-known reasons that we have improved our defensive line recruiting is that one of the coaches' wives make a mean peach cobbler for the recruits.

Speaking of peach cobbler, does anyone know where I can buy a good cobbler in Sac or the Bay Area? I'm dying for a bite of cobbler right now, but too lazy to make it.

LOL.....how goofy....anyone following recruiting for any amount of time knows there are active and dormant periods....Spring and Summer bring a lot of recruiting info but the end of summer is more about Fall practice..kids are getting ready to go back to school for their senior season in high school.... dormant period now....once school starts up, then kids will start taking official visits and the recruiting talk will ramp back up as kids either commit, visit, or get ready to at the Under Armour or All Army game.....then of course the nail biting time around LOI day.....give it until mid September or so and things will pick up......

Thanks CF2. I went to Rick's last night in search of peach cobbler, but they didn't have any (at least not last night).

Where is the Real Pie Company? I will look that up. Have you been there? Is it good?

I wonder if Shaq Thompson likes cobbler?

Has anybody heard of that really good 5* recruit out of Sacramento that once committed to us? I believe his name is Shaq. I haven't heard one mention of him in at least 2 months on this board. Anyone have any updates?

Not just a lack of recruiting discussion, but Cal football discussions in general seem few and far between.

Posts on other boards have mentioned that Shaq recently named UCLA and Notre Dame as his leaders. (link to 24/7, IIRC) Strangely, there has been little discussion of this rather scary possibility. Sure, it could be BS or just out of context quotes, but disconcerting nonetheless.

It has been a long time and when I try and look them up I can't find them... I think if you go to yelp.com, they have a page on them and down in the comments someone gave another address......good luck with that....

...maybe convert this thread to another one beating on Tedford for closing practices. A great dead horse to beat. It's just dumb.

Seriously, there use to be more recruiting talk? Obviously as LOI day ramps up and the scouting services have scouted all the players, or a phenom is on your school's list, it's natural to talk about it. That said, talking too much about teenage boys and recruiting is a bit creepy to me...and I think Alan Dundes would agree even as he was a big Bear fan.

This has been occurring to me, too. Who's comin' to Cal and what do they bring? Absolutely. But the leaning-this-way, leaning-that-way thought processes, not so much. I'm really not interested in what 17-yr-old boys tweet.

Next to Cal football I know a lot about pies and cobbler.

There is a place in Auburn just off Hwy #50 that has incredibly good pies. The name sounds Japanese but the pies are All American. The name starts with the letter O, I could take you there but I cannot remember the name.

Only one more Saturday without college football.

Based only on a maps.google search (and dozens of favorable reviews) might could be this? Um, and presuming you mean Auburn off #80.

If you get a chance to drive deep into the Central Valley (say on your way to Sequoia or something), there are GREAT roadside peach stands off of 65 and 63, especially around Terra Bella... Last week I bought a case of peaches that were the most delicious I've ever had. Just perfect... juicy, just right firmness, gorgeous color... I was in peach heaven.

If you do go to Ikeda's and order a burger or sandwich, make sure to say "light on the onions." Unless you really love red onions. The food is pretty good, but they over do it on the onions.
