870 SAT score, 2.8 GPA according to Rivals. That has to be out-of-date. How the heck did he get into Cal?

People like to believe on this board that our athletes have higher admission standards, when we have admitted atheletes with less then stellar grades in the past. We're just like any other university in that regards.

Cal has plenty of recruits with low grades/ test scores. We also have a lot of student-athletes who do very well in the classroom. Where JT gets a lot of credit isn't in bringing in the best students but in making sure as many of the players as possible earn a degree at the end. IMO, it says a lot more that JT graduates players who come in with low GPAs and test scores than it would if he only gave scholarships to 4.0 students.
