Wind and basically giving them 14 points didn't even stop us from putting together a fairly acceptable performance. I would have taken a 1 point victory! GO BEARS! :bravo

I liked that even with all of the bad penalties and handing them 2 TDs on turnovers, it was still a convincing, comfortable win by the 4th quarter. Obviously there are still problems, but at halftime it seemed like the kind of game where we let a team hang around too long and eventually they pull out a win. Didn't happen -- we stomped 'em in the 3rd Q and put the game out of reach. That was encouraging.

Fresno State's 2010 regular season losses were to Ole Miss, Hawaii, Nevada, and Boise State. I'll take this as a good win.

Helepiko's injury seemed to be the root of much of Fresno State's ineffectiveness and forced the coaching staff to scale back its offense with conservative play-calling.

Throughout fall camp, Hill had pointed out the significance of having all five starting offensive linemen healthy because the team still needed to develop depth.

But one quarter in, Fresno State was shuffling 60% of its offensive line.

Senior right guard Leslie Cooper moved to center, which he had never played during a game. Sophomore right tackle Austin Wentworth, who already was new to the starting lineup, slid over to right guard. And redshirt freshman Cody Wichmann came off the bench to fill in at right tackle.

"When one guy goes down and you move three, that's usually what you're not thinking about doing," Hill said. "We weren't clicking on all cylinders."
