'Zona getting shredded. Not good. They ever teach those guys to play defense?

Weeden's 17/18 for 141 through a quarter. He's got all day back there.

.....and they don't even have WR Criner in this game...this could be a blow out big time...Ariz is one mistake and miscue after another....that said, we've been on the receiving end of one of these more times than I wish to remember.

Zona's run game gets demolished in the red zone. Stoops go on 4th but pass is broken

OSU plays out of the shotgun almost 100% of the time. Weeden is not a dual threat QB. Cal can easily swing between using the QB as a running threat or playing it straight. For those that believe Cal is making a mistake by using this formation a lot, please note how OSU uses the Qb. The "pistol" look can take on many personalities. What you do with it depends on who plays QB. With Maynard the QB represents a dual threat but with AB at Qb the offense would look more how OSU plays.

Look for Cal to expand the formations and looks as the season progresses. They will still use the traditional look, but with Kapp out the "pistol" look should be present often this Saturday.

Criner out because of appendectomy according to ESPN.

Bad break for the Mildcats, especially with Furd and Whoregon coming up.

I still call Arizona to upset the furd next week at home.

Foles has almost 400 yards and 1 TD with 0 Ints.

I suspect stats like that will equate to a lot more points at home.

yes.....they couldn't run the ball at all and didn't get any pressure on the QB until late in the game...that is NOT a winning formula against any team

You are so right friend Cal-Fan2...'zona doesn't have a winning formula for their next brutal series of games against the 'fuds, then the Ducks...finishing litterally with u$c.....we won't hear from the 'cats for the rest of the season........

Ever since the Vinnie Strang injury. I have hoped for the ruin of the Mike Stoopid era. This is a good start.

I'm going to go ahead and guess that you are wrong about what you hoped, because Strang was a senior in 2003, and Stoops didn't take over until 2004.

It's too bad we don't play Arizona this year. They suck.

He must be talking about the Makonnen incident.

37 for 51. 73% passing. 398 yards.

Someone like to guess which QB had that stat line?

You're going down next week furd.

I kind of bad-mouth Nick Foles last year, but from watching last night's game, he's pretty good. He looks more poised and gets rid of the pass quicker now.

When someone passes for 400 yards and the team gets a whopping 14 points out of the effort, I'd call that an ineffective, one-dimensional offense.

First of all, OSU's defense is terrible. There's no way Foles passes for 400 yards in any Pac 12 game, save possibly Colorado.

And I don't see that defense having an answer for anybody this season. From the looks of that game, not only will 'Furd roll, but I don't see a single Pac 12 game that U of A would be favored to win. I'm sure they'll win a couple, but that team is significantly worse than last year's team.

True. The was offense was woe-fully 1 dimensional.

However, passing for 400 yards (73% completion rate) in a hostile environment with absolutely no running game against a top 10 team...

...is 1 good take-away from the game.

Replicate 400 yards passing at a home night game the following week against an overrated stanfurd team coming off 2 beatdowns of bad teams, and you might see different results...

just saying...

I suspect you will see similar results. Stanford will control the ball; run up a lead and let Foles have his comeback.

He played minor league baseball for a few years ... Yankees drafted him in 2002 (I think) and he was traded to the Dodgers. I saw him pitch in San Jose against the SJ Giants for the Dodgers High A farm team

And someone on this board picked San Jose State to upset stanfurd.
