I'm not sure if it's his low voice, but theres something in his interviews that I feel I haven't seen in a long time for a Cal quarterback.


He seems calm, collected, and a leader, he just seems to have good intangibles, hopefully this shows up through the whole season.

I've never felt as comfortable listening to a response as I have in a long time.

Yeah, he has good presence, in and out of the pocket.

Yeah, I like Maynard. He has that leadership appeal. Most of Cal's QBs act, maybe rightfully so, like an insecure undergrad....like one of the guys.....leaders sometimes have to be a little more than that.....and that is Maynard. I like it when he hauled off and started his runs......he knew when to step out of bounds...he's no wildcard fool, that's for sure...

Yes, I've noticed his lack of nervousness in interviews too. Bridgford has the same quality. I don't think those are guys who will panic under pressure.

I don't put a lot of weight on interviews, but given the way he handled himself on the field, I'm not surprised he was calm and collected in the interview. That just confirms my sense.

That level of confidence and presence is huge for this offense, especially on the road. Given the inexperience of the line and other key parts of the offense, having an unflappable QB really helps.

regardless, his attitude during the game didn't go unnoticed by his teammates, and I think he's one they can rally around. Not saying that's ALL we need, but his ability to motivate his teammates is key.

Dude threw a pick on his first outing as a Cal Bear, and came right back out and had a strong debut. I don't think confidence is an issue for ZM, and I have evidence.
