Not sure if this is 'legit', but here's something from a Northwestern Forum (my son noticed it being referenced on the Michigan Forum yesterday). Interesting, eh, if true?

Go Bears!!

Both ND and Texas wish to preserve rivalries with non-Big Ten universities on a regular basis. This would require the Big Ten to abandon its current plans of a 9 game conference schedule.

Interesting, but there seems to be a lot of issues.

What if OU says, "we already have to play SC, F you and your rivalry bitch" (maybe it's unlikely, but hey, it can happen).

What if the other Big 10 members say, we want a 9 game conference schedule, you're not gonna punk us, we're not Aggie or Baylor.

Heard this rumor last week from Texas Tech fans. Wouldn't Nebraska be thrilled if Texas joins them.

Please note the date of that post on the Northwestern Forum. Newer rumors have already appeared. As always their veracity is doubtful.

W.r.t. the specific proposal in the NW Forum, I think the B1G would find that in the period of time from now until 2014, Texas would continue to seek more favorable terms from any and all suitors and would jump ship from the B1G if it found such terms. Until you can get Texas commit to lockdown terms (i.e. forfeiting all media rights including Tier 3) for withdrawal from an agreement, the situation will "continue to develop".
