According to Sagarin, Cal is the 5th strongest in a weak 12-pac. The Bears SOS took a bit hit yesterday. At this point the Bears would be favored vs UW, Wazzu, UCLA, and OSU. Cal would be an underdog to Satan, the Condoms, Oregon, Utah, and @ ASU.

Oh yeah - this is really a rating system that u can hang your hat on. Let's see. Cal is rated #28 and Colorado is rated #92!! I don't think anyone from Sagarin happened to tune in to the game between the 2 teams.

Anyone who thinks this system is anywhere near accurate and happens to root for Cal is going to be a very disppointed rooter at seasons end.

On the other hand if u rated Cal somewhere around #50-70 which is where they actually should be there is a decent chance u might be somewhat elated by season's end.

the OSU ranking seems about right for this part of the year. I'm not holding out much hope we will beat them though.

Sagarin is one of the computer ranking algorithms that is used to calculate BCS rankings, and it's most accurate when a sample size is sufficiently large. By the end of the season, Sagarin is far more accurate than any human based poll I've seen.

And Sagarin is just one person (Jeff Sagarin).

The algorithm actually provides pretty solid rankings by midseason, it filters out a lot of the human biases in the main polls.
