Keenan Allen, Cal wide receiver, referencing the Huskies' last-play victory in 2010, told the San Francisco Chronicle, "We definitely have some get-back with them."

This game just got a lot more interesting.

We should have won that game last year and at least gotten a bowl game. Enough guys on this team sat through that and I'd hope they'd be excited to try to knock Washington down a peg or two.

Doesn't hurt that we have the bye the week after this - there is literally nothing to focus on but Washington.

I think you mean the last 2 UW games. In 2008, the Huskies were windless and we crushed them...

I have a good feeling about this Saturday.

No, 48-7 in 2008 was unacceptable, we should have scored 900 points on those suckers!!! :chainsaw

As you can see here, Cal will be just another pea in the pod. I gues its better
than Cal's pod consiting of Cal, SJS, UC Davis and Sac State....or is it?

Is it me or does Keenan bark a lot during games? And believe me, I like it -- esp. if you have the game to back it up like Keenan does.

We need pay back in a big way, but a win will do. I mean by 1 or 50 points. Just win!

Indeed, much better than Tucker flexing and getting pass interference calls. Need to have the right kind of swag.

There was an article before the season with Coach Kiesau and in it he talked about he encourages the receivers to get after it a little bit. They needed to get that swagger.

Yes, but it's good because it isn't silly taunting directed at the other team (double silly if you can't back it up). But he yells and jaws when he makes big plays - as he should. That's the kind of fire coach K wanted to see, and I love seeing KA21 make a huge grab in traffic to covert a big 3rd down and jump up with fists pumping! Great stuff. Makes me jump up in my living room and pump my fists too

We definitely have some get-back with them! Our last two trips up there ('07 and '09) were bad enough, then they make it even worse by beating us here last year?

I hope the squad is fired up and that this game is more like '02 - a road win against UW that makes people start noticing Cal again.

The Bears have a few guys that talk a little. Allen, Cattouse, Kendricks. Owusu seems to have a little of that as well. Nothing wrong with that.

Last year's game was the most depressing game I have been to during the Tedford era. It's probably in the top 5 depressing game. Just everything about that day was depressing. Depressing, depressing, depressing.

Off the top of my head, here are my "most depressing Cal game" lists:

JT Era:
1) 2010 Big Game
2) 2010 UW game
3) 2004 Holiday Bowl
4) 2007 Big Game
5) 2006 Tennessee game
6) 2005 SC game
7) 2009 Oregon game
8) 2010 SC game

Pre-JT:
1) 2001 SC game
2) 1998 Big Game
3) 1999 Big Game
4) 2000 Big Game
5) 1991 Big Game
6) 1993 UW game

Edit: I forgot to include the 1996 WSU game, when Pat Barnes fumbled the ball, then decided to head butt the ball instead of recovering it. Not sure where to put that one....probably between the 91 Big Game and the 93 UW game. I don't know...I think I need a drink.

Good for you for being there, though. I was in flight during the game and heard the result when I got stuck in an airport shuttle van with a bunch of really snotty furd undergrads. Which in itself is depressing too.

They went on to discuss how furd just had the best team ever, and how if that team went on to win a BCS bowl, maybe they would attend a game next year!

God, I had wiped that game from my memory... I had to look it up... yeah, that was a baaaad game. The 99 Big Game with Stanford celebrating a Rose Bowl berth in front of their apathetic non sold out stadium was pretty miserable too... man, those were bad back to back (to back to back to back to back to back) years....

Anyway, after the 98 Big Game we were having dinner in The City at Jackson Fillmore... while waiting for our table and having a glass of wine there was a an old blue haired Stanfurd couple and an old blue haired CAL couple having some wine and waiting for their table... The old Stanfurd gal said to the old CAL gal, in a gravely-smoked-since-before-WWII-voice... "well, I guess our boys were just a little less putrid than your boys today..." We cracked up... It was the perfect summation of the day.

Didn't mean to turn this thread into a walk down misery lane... sorry.

I know it's not a game that most of us were at, but that 2007 @Washington game may have been the most depressing for me. We just gave up, even though we were in it for a good portion of it.

And I went by myself, which just added to the depressing nature of the game. I almost didn't go but I just couldn't miss a game let alone the last game of old Memorial... I gave my seats to some young kids (not that it mattered they could sit anywhere) and just wandered around the stadium the whole game... it was grey.. wet... empty... no students... absolutely dead... it was everything that the Tedford era hadn't been... and it was capped by the Chancellor being so incredibly long winded in a speech no one could hear... and being taunted by Washington fans... 5-6 Washington fans... as they left the Stadium... it reminded me why I hated Washington fans so much... enjoy your win, sure, but don't be talking shyt when you're 5-6.

LOL this sounds very much like the 2001 $C game (the "Seagull Game") at Memorial.

Me too. I was supposed to take my kid, but with the weather forecast, I was nervous about Children's Protective Services coming after me if I did...as it turns out, as bad as that game was, my instincts were correct.

But I didn't stick around for the post-game speeches...even I have my masochistic limits.

See, to me it's in for a penny in for a pound! You actually didn't get the full experience by not waiting it out til the bitter post game end... ;-)

I was actually a little proud of myself that day because everything said "don't go to the game." Thanksgiving weekend. Team was sucking. No one to go with. I had to drive back down to SOCAL for a flight to Europe on Monday... Terrible weather... But I just couldn't give up on the team... and frankly on Tedford... I felt they deserved my attendance. It was definitely a melancholy CAL day.

You and I were kindred spirits at that game. I went alone, ended up running into some buddies but they didn't want to show up for kickoff. I spent most of the game in the student section since there was such a poor turnout and I figured I might as well close down memorial from my favorite location. Watching them celebrate really put an exclamation point on a disappointing season. I'm hoping it motivates Keenan and the rest of those guys - would love to see them play 60 minutes every game (like they did against CU) and finish games when it matters!

At least Memorial didn't technically "close" after that game. It will be back, infinitely better than what it used to be, and your shvtty memories will be replaced by awesome ones in 2012.
