"Seeing Cal's two-deep made me wonder how much Washington could've used Deandre Coleman, a reserve DE for the Bears that was a coveted UW recruiting target. He is now 315 pounds and playing on the edge. Man, that's one big bear on the outside..Cal averages 45 points per game, but they haven't really played anyone of note. Where they really have shined is rushing defense, where they've only given up 196 yards on 83 carries. That is ridiculous. They have also sacked the quarterback 11 times, six more times than the Huskies haveCal has returned one kickoff for a touchdown, courtesy of former UW commit-turned-decommit Brendan Bigelowthrough three weeks the California Bears are the biggest cheaters in the conference. They have been flagged a whopping 29 times putting them ahead of perennial conference leaders ASU and WSU in this department. "

I'm not surprised but, man, we need to clean that up!

Clearly, he's got a bit of a grudge because, "For one, I lived in San Francisco and, well, all the Cal grads I worked with at my first company got promoted over me". :rollinglaugh:

Between this comment and the cheating comment, I firmly believe that you guys have no ability whatsoever to spot sarcasm. These guys are joking around. You may or may not find them funny but they're clearly not serious. Kenny Mayne always often calls penalties "cheating" and many others do too. It's a joke.

Seriously, get those sticks that are shoved up your a$$es surgically removed and learn to not take everything everyone writes so literally.

What an endorsement for Cal. I hope all recruits read this. I know early on I was hired and gained the respect of my superiors quickly in large part because I'm a Cal grad, but I've never heard anyone lament the other side of the coin before. Music to my ears.

But even if DO spotted the joke about the weather and was noting it with sarcasm, I still feel the "get those sticks... surgically removed" comment was worth it. I'm sure it applies to someone.

Project much? Yes, it doesn't take an genius to notice that this post is in the same mold as the allbuffs.com's "a very shitty preview of the Cal game".
However, there's a difference between being sarcastic and making absolutely no sense. Some of his post was some-what funny -- much of it was utter nonsense.

1) It was a joke. Haven't you ever clapped for a penalty called on an opponent and muttered, "dirty cheaters?" It's a joke.

2) If you want to get technical about it, and apparently you do, you can't ask how getting caught breaking a rule makes a person a cheater. You might as well ask how getting caught looking at your neighbor's test makes a person a cheater. The rules of taking a test say you can't look at your neighbor's test. There are penalties for it. The rules of football say you can't grab your opponent's jersey to keep him from sacking your QB. There's a penalty for that, too. Both are technically cheating. And before you talk about how we all know holding happens in football on every play, see (1).

Easy there. I wasn't referring to your post. I said I was referring to drunkoski's and the ones about penalties not being cheating. I thought I made it pretty clear in my post (which you quoted).

Not trying to pick a fight. I just want folks to lighten up. You gotta admit that some folks on this thread are taking this a tad too seriously.

Surprised no one is calling the above on its accuracy. Yes, we've been penalized a lot, mostly careless stuff, IMO, but I was just checking stats this mornings, and unless Yahoo! is wrong, we are not the worst in the conference, but 2nd with 26 and 3rd in yardage at 234.

there's a difference between being funny and being plain stupid. I don't think we are being too "sensitive" in as much we are just pointing out that the the UW post made zero sense and especially had zero humor. and I'm talking about the blog about the weather, etc., not about the cheating comment (which was whatever.)

Geez louise .... joke or not, NO BIG DEAL!!!!!

I was only questioning the descriptive term for our excessive penalties ... it really doesn't matter and I certainly am not one to try to stir up an argument on these boards

They can call it whatever they want ... I didn't blow a gasket over it

Doesn't the Monterey Peninsula have the worst weather? Every time I've been there it seems there's a big dark cloud over the Bay.

Actually, I thought Gekko was one, funny; two, envious that he didn't attend our fine institution. The line about "Can't a Republican find a good hamburger in Berkeley?" was pretty funny.

He was pretty right on with our history and the makeup of this season's team.

I'm not sure how many people here read stuff on the SB Nation site besides maybe CGB. They do this stuff to each other all the time...it is kind of a blogging fraternity where they don't beat up on each other too much and try to wax comical which doesn't always translate.......

The guy was attempting to be funny. He said the game could go either way. He hit some of Cal's weaknesses and for a Husky fan, was forthcoming about the Udub's issues. Its interesting a guy writing about a team in Seattle could dish Bay Area weather. Anyone who has sat in the endzone at Husky Stadium freezing knows the guy must be kidding or a loon.

Just north of 1/2 Moon Bay, Montara. Every time I've been through this area, Montara has it worse. Pacifica is over DC, which is sits higher, at least parts of it...

I try not to be overly antagonistic, but part of the fun of this whole internet thing is calling people out on their opinions. Just having fun. Go Bears!
