That should be their league name because they are all Rejects and Left-Overs:

. Colorado rejected them and left for Pac 12
. Nebraska rejected them and left for Big 10
. ATM rejected them and left for SEC
. KU, KSU, Baylor, Missouri, Iowa State were all rejected and left behind by the wishful four who were hoping to be admitted to Pac 12.
. Wishful four of UT, TT, OU and OSU were rejected admission to Pac 12 and were left behind to go back to the ones they themselves had rejected and left behind

Now, there is one thing that ALL the new league members (UT, TT, OU, OSU, KU, KSU, Baylor, Missouri and Iowa State) have in common (there certainly is not 12 of them, but then again, math is not their strength):

REJECTED

LEFT-OVERS

As you'd expect across the regionalized Internet lands, different names for this mutant of a conference have developed. I call 'em the Little10 (or Little9) in reference to the Big10; the two conferences having switched numerical counts with each other. Other places call them the Big12-2-1. The New SWC. Etc...

Well put. I couldn't have stated it any more eloquently.

Amusing LA Times article deriding Texass and Choklahoma...

Quote:

To be clear: Commissioner Larry Scott did meet with Texas and Oklahoma. A deal could have been done if not for some audacious other-end behavior.

The message, as one Bowl Championship Series executive familiar with the situation relayed it this week, was "Texas cannot be trusted."

The Pac-12 was willing to consider expansion again, but not on anyone else's terms.

Quote:

Texas Inc. thought it could transfer operations to its Pacific branch. However, the Pac-12 had just made equal revenue sharing a cornerstone of its new $3-billion network deal.

Many in the league were appalled to read details of Texas' Pac-12 entry application in Sunday's Austin American-Statesman. The newspaper suggested a way Texas could join the Pac-12 while retaining the revenue from the Longhorn Network. The story had the financial breakdown and even the 16-team pod system that would make it all work.

Quote:

Taking in Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech would have required swallowing hard on academics. Texas is the only one of the four that is a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), but also the school that presented the Pac-12 the most headaches.

The more I think about it, the more I think we dodged a self inflicted bullet. Larry Scott. Pay the man.

What I love most about that article is the absolutely hysterical reaction some (obviously not all) people are having over on ShaggyBevo over it.

For such a bunch of big shots, some of them get their panties in a bunch at the drop of a ten gallon hat.

It's not like this kind of stuff hasn't been said about Texas before. At least this time it's coming from parties that aren't in the same conference.

We didn't NEED them now and they didn't NEED us now.

Some ShaggyBevoans need to exhale and take a step back.

As long as OU and Texas stay together they'll have respectability. Even if it were the Big 2, it would still be a BCS conference.
