thanks dude.

There is no discussion. Cal cant beat South Carolina. We dont have a established RB, we have a new QB and only a decent receiving core. I dont know much about South carolina's defense but Marcus Lattimore is a potential all american RB same with Alshon Jeffery, their #1 WR.

What about defense? They gave up 37 points to ECU and 42 to Georgia.

Anyway, if I were to get right down to it, I suspect South Carolina is better than Cal this year. But in point of fact, their resume this season is not any more impressive than ours.

I like how other people actually take the time to look at what SC has actually done, as well as a couple of their opponents, and that's all you have to say about it. Really adds to a quality discussion.

The SEC games the system. They get the media hype. There's no doubt about it. Patsie OOC schedules, 8 conference games, and inflated preseason rankings all guarantee the teams get more hype than they deserve (and guarantee them a team in the NC game). It's obvious the general masses buy right into it. That said, the objective evidence says they really are good, and this year better than the Pac-12. It is a good conference. It deserves respect. It is also overrated, though, and years like last year the Pac-10 has been the better conference.

They may get to the NC game easier but it's not hype when they get there. They are 7-0 in NC games-a phenomenal record. The Big 10 (OSU) and Big 12 (Oklahoma) get to the NC game far more on hype than merit. I would also argue that Oregon was the more hyped team last year.

No doubt that's a point in their favor. Of course, it's a small sample of games, so that has to be kept in mind...but still, every win is a little more evidence in their favor. They really have put some high quality teams out lately, but those NC games are taken into account when I look at something like Sagarin ratings. Looking at the full body of work is my preference for evaluating them as accurately as possible.

Potential all american RB Marcus Latimore and their #1 WR Alshon Jeffrey were held to 24 points at home by Navy, three more than they got scored on.

I don't think that anyone would argue with the contention that the winner of the SEC is almost always a high-quality team. The issue is that the middle and bottom of the conference may look stronger than everyone else's, but in fact this is often an illusion created by media hype and easy non-conference scheduling.

Did anybody watch the LSU/Oregon game and see how LSU's front-line man handled Oregon's?
Oregon scored one touchdown on offense against us. How many did they score against LSU?
