You negative people are simply sick. Every team has the opportunity to win. Today we played hard and simply got beat. On another day we beat Washington. We made mistakes and they made mistakes. That happens. The twelth man, not the officials but the fans, were probably the deciding factor. Washington has a good team. We closed Polk down and in doing so gave Price the opportunity to throw. He beat us today. Tomorrow is another day. So get real.

I agree. I hope the coaches took the whole team out for milk and cookies after the game and patted them on the head to tell them everything will be ok. Toughen up, chief.

I see a lot of disappointment. That does not make us sick. It makes us frustrated!!!!!!!!!!!!

As fans, we want the team to do well, when the defense stinks it up like that and with playcalling at the end of the game like that, it does get frustrating and if you dont like the "negativity" on this board, then you don't have to read it, simple as that. Why do you care what I say or anyone else on here says anyways? I'm sure the players and coaches dont give a flying squirrel what the hell we say, like it matters anyways.

Sorry, but Washington is not a good team. They are very average at best. Our horrible defensive secondary just made them look good and made Price look like the second coming of Joe Montana.

We're a very average team also, did people really think we're that much better than UW? The oddsmakers had this game as pickem'.

Most people on this board saw this team getting 6 or 7 wins, so I'm not sure why people are acting so shocked by this loss.

You do realize that Price leads the nation in passing TDs and has a very nice passing rating (9th in the country, Luck is 11th), right? He may not be Joe Montana, but he's been very impressive thus far.

So glad someone started yet another thread to say the exact same thing. This board is starting to resemble the urinal at Blake's/Kip's/Henry's.

Well, when you get down to the 2 first and 10 for the tying touchdown and you don't get in, you're going to have a little bit second of guessing going on. Especially when we only had a yard to go and our best short yardage runner was on the bench for no apparent reason.

I was at the game and it was a very tough atmosphere. They support their team and it showed. We played well in many spots and were in a position to tie and go into overtime. Did not make the plays and there are clear areas of improvement that need to be addressed; running game, pass defense/pass rush. Lots of good signs as well. We need to improve as the season goes on and I will be happy with this team and the direction we are going. We'll see. I trust the team knows what they need to do to make meaningful improvement. The job of the people on this board is to support this team, through thick and thin. I am in for that job.

Give me a break. Tell me the play calling on the last drive which handed W the game was correct. Put your smallest backs in twice? Throw a fade? Players need to be put in a position to win and simply they weren't. Embarrasing.

Everyone reacts, and most reactions after a loss are predictably ugly shortly thereafter. But "sick".....These are fellow Cal fans. I hold a lot of what you say to be true, but dial it down a bit.

Agreed 100%. Bashing fellow fans for venting just makes that person look like a bigger douchebag and whiny little child. This is a talkboard for discussions about everything about the team, not a praise only board.

What were those sound-proof screaming rooms that were popular in the seventies called? That's what this board sometimes reminds me of, especially after a loss. Can you hear me?

I guess it's better than the Ralph Waldo Emerson model about every man living a life of quiet desperation.

Now we have the Internet.

[End of philosophical musing -- for now]

Hold back your six figure donation, that will teach them a lesson that you mean business and expect perfection!

Participation trophies for EVERYONE!!!!!!!

Wait, maybe we will put a football sticker left of the helmet strip for losses? Then we could be sure that every player gets 12.

Get Real?
Here is REAL: Football is now costing the School about $325 MILLION fininaced with a promise of competative teams drawing donations and extremely high prices for seats.

If Cal does not show MASSIVE improvement between now and the end of 2012, Cal is stuck footing the bill, at least short term. Last season we had a handfull of sports cuts because of a small shortfall. What happens when we are holding a loan for $325 million and there are no fans willing to foot the bill to watch "could have won" football.

Bottom line, this is not the first, or one of a few game that Tedford "could have won". Matter of fact, there have been PLENTY in the last few years to turn fans away. Back when it was school pride riding on Tedford's abilities the argument's about it not REALLY mattering were fine. Now that was have a third of a billion dollars riding on his abilities, and the school can hardly maintain what is has? Sorry, Tedford's "could have won, so it's OK" pass has been revoked.

The fade got Cal a W at Colorado. Also, the short yardage failures need to be placed on the O line much more than Isi. Galas didn't block well. 1 yard runs up the middle should be bread and butter for any team, but the defense usually has an advantage deep in the red zone on those short yardage plays.

It seems emotion is clouding your analysis, which has come up short here.
