UCLA kick returner yanked down by his long hair. Refs called personal foul for horse collar tackle, but the Stanford tackler didn't touch his jersey.

Refs blew this call, right?

Same thing happened to Polamalu a few years ago. No penalty.

However, the call has to be made, just like facemask, and so it comes with a lot of "looked like". yanked down like than, or the head twisting crazy will almost always be called (for safety reasons).


IMHO, hair longer than X inches should be a uniform violation. I would pick shoulder length.


Either way, the hair pull is the best play in all of sports.

So let's say the runner had REALLY long hair, down to his waist or even longer. Everytime he got tackled you would be tackling hair. Hair shoud not be part of the equation. I mean who hasn't pulled on some girls pig tails in grammer school? I say if you want hair like a girl then suffer the consequences!

I don't see any problem with pulling the hair to make a tackle. It looks dangerous, but the hair is part of the body. Cut the hair if you don't want to be hair pulled. It's that simple. Why punish other teams for your vanity?

IIRC, in the NFL hair is considered part of the uniform: where it long at your own risk. Should be the same in the NCAA.

Why is this not overturned when the replay official sees that it was the hair pulled and not a horse collar?
