I'm thinking Oregon -17. It has to be at least 2 touchdowns doesn't it??

23.5? Wow I have to say I take that bet. Now the Bears may well disappoint but I think we keep it to three tD's

It opened at 20.5, and it's been bet to 23.5.

Sounds about right. Betters probably remember that 60-13 thrashing Oregon laid on UCLA on a Thursday night last year.

one vegas book now has oregon minus 24. based on 42-3 a couple of years ago don't bet the house on the bears. we did win the 2nd half against usc in l.a. last year.

Pray for rain. Continuous rain. Torrential rain for four quarters.

3 years later and I'm still trying to dry off after the 2008 game at Cal.

Well, if Tedford knew how to leverage the advantages he does have (Allen and Jones) we'd have a much better chance. I expect him to play them straight up without taking the necessary risks, and we'll get boat raced.
pappysghost

I think we'll get boat raced, or beat them. I don't see much in between.

i don't see a way we keep the score reasonable. unfortunately, in attendance last yr when sc walked off the field at half up 42-0. this is going to be ugly.

This year's team has a little more soul. Maybe we can give them a game.

Where can I put $100 on Cal +23.5? Unless I see Ed Dickson in uniform. Then all bets are off.

anyone remember what the line was last year?

I'd put money on us covering that.

True, that type of rain hasn't been that common at Cal games. But if anything, the rain affected the Bears more than the Ducks - 5 Cal turnovers to 3 for Oregon. And Cal outgained Oregon by a reasonable amount as well. A solid win (not that you were saying otherwise). Of course since then our programs have headed down very different paths... in more than one way.

You can get Cal +24 at Sportsbook.com. I think we can cover that if we don't quit and keep throwing it to Allen and Jones.

Yes - last year's line for Cal-Oregon hovered around Bears +20/+19.5.

Yup,
Kelly grabbed Cheat Carroll's blueprint and that is when Lyles' key offensive skill player recruits like LMJ, Darron Thomas showed up in Eugene..... Cheating can be effective... Just ask Barroid Bonds, Cheat Caroll, Auburn football 2010, Goldman Sachs management, and the Keating Five.

I'd put a small amount on Cal +24. I think we have the firepower to keep up at least within 3 touchdowns. Our D pretty much practices against an oregon style offense now(running QB, no huddle, call play at line). Unfortunately, we will not have obvious fake injuries at our leverage.

I do believe this is the biggest line as a dog since Tedford arrived. The previous high was Kansas State in 2003 at a "neutral" Arrowhead Stadium at around 21-22 points.

When have we no huddled?

This is the most reasonable thing to say about the game.

Well, I don't know how much more soul you can have then we did in the 2010 game v. Oregon. We were having a crappy season, we didn't know whether we would have an offense (and we didn't), yet we nearly pulled off the upset of a team that wound up in the NCG.

I compare that @UW game with the @Arizona game last year. Both were the first league games of the year, on the road, and both were games we could have had (AZ we SHOULD have had).

I think we do battle, esp. on offense, and our D did put up a fight in the 2nd half of the UW game. If we continue to battle and claw, and not roll over like @SC last year, we're going to continue to have some quite entertaining games.

How is Oregon's O-line/D-line? Losing the frontline battle was a key to Cal getting its ass kicked in 2009.

James and Thomas were already on the team in 2008...

Yep, 'fraid so. Chance for rain to slow things down is "low" at this point in the forecast.

I think we actually have a half decent chance to stop the run without committing 8 to the box - at least based upon how we have defended the run this year. Lets see how the vaunted Kelly offense does if they dont' get oodles of yards on zone read runs.

What worries me is that their defense is underappreciated - they actually controlled LSU pretty well and would have done much better if they hadn't put the rock on the ground. I think that is key (duh) - to stay close we have got to be +2 or +3 in TOs.
