our tackling was excellent against fresno. not sure if that was because it was fresno though.

DJ Campbell was flying all over the place v. Fresno. I haven't really seen him since. I hope he reappears on Thursday.

We are fast. We did play great defense on them last year, but I expect them to have some more answers this time around. They'll probably look to throw a little bit more which could be in our favor, or work out badly since our pass defense has been shaky. I worry that we won't be able to run the ball well enough ourselves especially in the red zone.

I don't buy the altitude excuse. We don't have much of a pass rush and Anthony got torched.

I expect every team:
(i) on offense: to throw on offense until we prove that we can stop the pass.
(ii) on defense: to cover Allen and Jones legally and illegally, even risking PI calls (there should have been at least 3 more PI's that should have been called against UW), until we can prove that we have some sort of ground game.

Washington's OL is much bigger and more physical compared to Oregon's.

sorry but thats just not true about them being much bigger. Oregon's Oline starters average about 6'5 298. I'm not sure who the starters are in Seattle, but having just looked over their entire official roster listings at best they are equal to Oregon in size, and I'm pretty positive that they don't start their biggest guy.

Here is a link that keeps up with Oregon's depth chart. Just hover your cursor over a player's name to get a quick bio

Why does New Mexico State have the Oregon depth chart?

Just kidding though... Washington's run game is based more on physical running instead of the Oregon method of deception. Two totally different blocking schemes and necessary blockers. That is why a strong, fast, and physical DL gives Oregon's run game fits because those deception type runs needs to have the LBs blocked and our type of DL requires multiple blockers to take care of the center of the line. That removes an extra blocker that is usually used for an OLB or MLB. Also while Darron Thomas is a good QB... he is more of pass first type instead of run first. I, for one, will take Darron Thomas running all night long instead of LMJ, Barner, or Thomas.

I kind of laughed at your middle OL weight lifting numbers compared to Moala... Those 3 starters squat what he bench presses.

Mark Asper - Squats 500lbs
Hroniss Gauss - Squats 485lbs
Carson York - Benches 365lbs

Vai Moala - Benches 495 lbs.

I'm hoping to get Cal on the money line at about +500 (5 to 1 odds). I think we got some shot.

If the spread is 24, the money line on Cal should give you significantly better odds than +500. It varies a bit, but a +500(dog)/-700(favorite) type line in CFB usually goes with a spread in the 14-17 range.

So outside of the 4 or so long runs by LMJ that I personally think had holds on them... we have done exactly what was needed to slow Oregon down.
