You should see my 6 year old sister. Whenever she sees anything relating to Furd or U$C she loves to tell me how much they suck

Committing kids to be life long bear fans is cruel.

My son is 9 years old and has already worn out 4-5 Cal hats. He wants to go to Cal and won't wear anything red. When others ask him why he always wears a Cal hat, his response is "I have to represent"....

My boy .... GO BEARS!!!!!!!

My 11-year-old son already has 3 Cal football jerseys. One Justin Forsett #20, one Shane Vereen #34, and this year's addition is a Keenan Allen #21. Kid wears them to school all the time in the Portland area. I also got a sweet photo of my son and daughter with Keenan before last year's Oregon game.

He's already as hopeless as his father ('93) and grandfather ('63), so we just go with it. :cheer

Buying and cheating your way to success or forever losing. Which is the greater sin?

That's my daughter in the video from last year when she was 2. Still a huge KA fan and flips out whenever she hears his name called during a game. We've been brainwashing her since birth, cognizant of the cruelty of making a child a Cal fan for life. But living in LA, I figure it's gotta beat her becoming a condom or a bruin fan...

Letting your kids meet Oski when they are about 3 makes them lifelong fans.

As someone who was brainwashed that way since well before birth, just let me say that no one *has* to assume it's cruelty. My folks didn't - the Cal they grew up rooting for had gone to Rose Bowls regularly and had a national athletic reputation. They assumed that the 40 to 50 years ahead would be more of the same (in fact, they were so sure of it that they actually *skipped* the '59 Rose Bowl because of being pregnant with me - assuming -as they ruefully remarked over the years- there would be plenty more chances to be in Pasadena on January first. Oh the guilt, the guilt.) But they got surprised..... and so could we. The next 50 years don't have to be what the last 50 have been. The sahpc and reborn Memorial will open soon; and the chances of Berkeley and environs having to endure the sort of anti-establishment sea-changes that remade campus life and undergraduate priorities a generation ago are precisely nill. So you just let her yell for Keenan Allen all she wants. And maybe someday she'll be dragging that video out to show her Cal fan grandkids how she's actually old enough to remember the *first* of Cal's great Heisman Trophy winners.....

Yes, but it will give them the understanding that $hit happens, it just happens to the Bears more than it should!

I was born in 1960, and was also brainwashed by both parents, who met at Cal. I never thought of it in these terms until you said it. It makes me feel better.
