Win or loss, if our defense shows up (in a big way) what are some of the conclusions that could be drawn?

For one, I'd like to hear the "Oregon offense/DT/LMJ had a bad day in 2010" go away and give more credit to our D.

If our D can stop them, we may win, since we basically didn't have an offense last year in that game.

If I like what I see defensively in the first quarter, my hopes will have no choice but to get up.

even if our D plays well, it may not be enough if our offense and special teams puts our defense in tough situations.

loud stadium + galas' bad snaps + false starts = lots of 1st and 15's, 2nd and 20 situations which inevitably lead to 3 and out's. and if our special teams remains alamar-esque, then oregon will enjoy a healthy field position advantage too...

Let's start losing the Alamar lingo. We're two years into the Genyk era -- this is Genyk's special teams.

Sort of tough to answer that one. That's like asking what we would conclude if Isi Sofele rushes for 300 yards and breaks 5 tackles on each run. If that happens - would you conclude that he's the best RB we've ever had? Really hard to draw conclusions based on a premise that is yet to occur, and appears unlikely based on existing information.

If the defense plays lights out again, the most natural conclusion would be (i) the defense is inconsistent, (ii) Clancy knows how to scheme against UO and motivate his guys to execute against them, and (iii) some of our younger players have started to come into their own.

I don't think it's impossible that our defense does a good job tomorrow, but I'd be surprised if we really shut them down (which to me would mean <400 yards of offense, <4 TDs) based on what I've seen with my own eyes this year.

until genyk produces several consecutive years of consistently putrid special teams play, alamar holds the championship belt for crappy special teams lingo. unfortunately, genyk is well on his way...

I've seen enough ...our defensive pass rushers have slow lateral movement or definitely are out of position.....the mobile Duck QB is going to have a field day if Cal doesn't get to him.....and Oregon will score very quickly........gulp!

Maynard should still be able to see his targets and get the ball to them, considering we'll be wearing our glow-in-the-dark polar bear unis.
