Mandel is from Ohio and went to Northwestern, so there's no left coast in him at all. Now he's in the middle of the Pac. It will be interesting to read his coverage of west coast football. Obviously his first order of business will be to gush over Luck, then shake his head at their dismal attendance. But after that, we'll see.

Yeah, a few of my friends were his roommates at NU. They were pretty shocked he made it as big as he is and were just happy he had all the sports channels after getting promoted, but he's a good writer, should be welcome news for the p12

I think Northwestern & Stanford perceiveeach other as rivals, so maybe Mandel won't fawn all over Luck.

But sometimes those private college guys stick together, a lot of Ivy friends root for Stanford over Cal. Eastern Elitism :headbang

We play Northwestern at Memorial to open the season in 2013.

I wonder if he'll attend that game, or cover a "real" first week matchup.
