It's the (almost) eve of another Cal football game, except it of course doesn't feel like it.

Only 27 hours to go...until Craig James ...and Jenn Brown.

+1. Unless you're at the game, you're gonna get a snootfull of:

1. James pumping Saturday's Red River Rivalry game
2. James pumping the Big 12
3. James impugning the Pac 12 in general and Cal in particular.
4. James pumping the State of Texas (wouldn't even surprise me if he offered props to Hank Williams, Jr.)
5. More "expert" commentary about how Cal "cheated" in last year's Oregon game, along with speculation about whether it will recur this year.
6. Jokes about AT&T Park as a football field.

Good post. Is that idiot really doing the game? Why would they even have him doing a Pac 10... er... Pac 12 game?!?

7. "they tackle in the SEC"
8. "they play 4 quarters in the SEC"

............PLUS this...(stolen from Rocky Top talk)

Quote:

The Craig James Memorial Trophy will annually recognize the outstanding college football analyst whose performance best exhibits a relentless pursuit of analyzing stuff you know nothing about, a tireless willingness to troll for clicks, and a selfless effort to meet a word count, regardless of the cost to the English language

Craig James is part of ESPN's Thursday Night Football team, and has been for years.

Why would he not call the game?

OK, I had no idea what you were talking about.

I thought you were referring to me, since I'm part Filipino.

Finally, I saw the ad to the right.

Since it's not a bear. I was surprised to see it mixed in with all the other bear and duck pics.

I have a water-color from my Dad's old place that shows almost identical imagery. He had it to remind him of the best dog he ever had: Thor. A Black Labrador.

That dog used to go crazy whenever a helicopter or plane would fly over the house, jumping and barking and generally carrying on. Then when we'd let him out, he'd run out into the yard and grab his food bowl with his teeth; and attempt to bring it inside.

Best darned retriever we ever had though. He used to routinely retrieve ducks from the other side of the river that my dad had not shot. Other hunters would complain, to which my dad would always reply, "Next time, YOU can swim over and get your own duck." It was hard to keep Thor out of the water.

I had a St. Bernard by the name of Thor...he tended to grab things much bigger than a duck......
