Interesting.......still wouldn't touch with a 10-foot poll.

Yeah, so what? He is toast in Texas. Limited programs would entertain his prospect. That said, good luck to the kid.................

SMU. Apparently, he and his father were seen attending a practice and were seen speaking to June Jones on Monday.

Not surprising at all. Probably a good move on his part. You never know what a new environment will do for a kid... Good luck to him wherever he ends up.

I believe Cornell is using him as some type of hybrid QB/RB. He hasn't thrown much this year, but appears to be getting about three rushes a game.

Disappointing I'm sure, for someone who transferred in hopes of starting as a senior, but at least he's getting a strong degree and is playing each game.

No, he should be thrilled to see to field. I'm serious. If he feels otherwise, those feelings stem from issues that sent him to Cornell.

It makes you wonder why Tedford gave him a scholarship in the first place?

Didn't Gilbert just have surgery on his throwing shoulder? If Brigford's situation is representative, the recovery period is two years. That basically means Gilbert has one year to show his stuff.

SMU is not a bad choice if Gilbert has to transfer, and I think he does if he wants a shot at a pro career. One thing everyone knows about June Jones is that he emphasizes the passing game.

I think it was a good move by Mack to give Gilbert an unconditional release. No problems for him in doing so (the UT fan base would riot if Gilbert henceforth played over either McCoy or Ash), and this gets an unhappy athlete off both the campus and the scholarship rolls.

The Gale Gilbert>>Mouse Davis>>June Jones connection!

I remember watching him in the 09 spring game. I liked how he carried himself. His numbers were underwhelming, but the o-line was getting whipped. Plus, he threw a nice ball on a long touchdown to Jeremy Ross. Something must have happened to him because against Davis he looked really uncomfortable.
