story, looking at Tedford's handling of Maynard and Bridgford so far and going forward on Front Page: http://www.bearinsider.com/news/story.php?article=1572

What many fear is that Maynard might play just well enough against two weaker opponents to keep Bridgford off the field, preventing his growth in the next two games against sub-.500 opponents but quite possibly regress against tougher competition as he has so far this year when Cal finishes up with road contests against North and South division leaders Stanford and ASU -potentially leaving Bridgford with a trial by fire situation he's ill-prepared to face if thrown to the lions without adequate game-time prep.

QFT. My fears exactly.

The implication here is that numerous times the receivers are not running the called routes/ or are not breaking off their routes to come back and help the QB under duress. It does seem like everybody is covered down field an inordinate number of times.

that Bill Walsh was in a similar situation when he took over the 49ers. Steve Deberg was the QB and Montana was an unsung 4th round pick. Steve Deberg was a decent NFL QB. But as Walsh later said, "He'll play just good enough to get you beat". Walsh eventually went with a young, unproven Montana and the rest is history. And believe me, it wasn't the slam dunk you think. Montana had not done much at Notre Dame and Deberg was decent. Walsh was on the verge of quitting the 49ers because his first two years had not gone well. But he had the guts to make the correct decision and go with the guy who was a bit more accurate with the ball. I doubt Bridgford is the next Montana. I know he doesn't have the coaching Montana had. But I do know he deserves and the team deserves to see what he can do.

Fine. I get it.
The real issue is how can we get rid of Tedford. The Tedford era is done. Ever since Rodgers left, we have had this conundrum.
First Ayoob, Longshore, Reed, Levy
Then Longshore, Riley, Ayoob
Then Riley, Longshore, Mansion
Then Riley, Mansion
Now Maynard, Bridgforth, Mansion, Hinder, Boehm
Get lost Tedford. Getting rid of him is our conundrum

I remember those days but I am in semi disagreement with you about Montana. While at ND he showed that he could lead a comeback. I remember the one against Texas at the Cotton Bowl. I remember thinking to myself "This kid may not have the strongest arm but goddamn it he makes the plays and he wills his team to victory."

My hope for today's game would be an excellent first half by Maynard and a four touchdown lead at halftime by our Bears. Then, we could watch Bridgeford play the entire second half and get some much needed game experience.
