welcome david davis a 6'2" 295 lb dt from long beach cc (former washington state bounceback) & palos verdes hs who will enroll this spring (2 to play 2) & compete for pt immediately

"it's a great opportunity and there's something about a berkeley education that I couldn't pass up"

check out the photo from the tour de palouse which davis (the middle guy) would've won if he hadn't rolled his racing bike in a snowbank outside pullman...oh well

a cal guy, servando carrasco

servando is a professional soccer player & while at cal was an all pac 10 academic team selection (i.e. he had a high gpa)

keep telling you, smokin' hot bitches like guys with high gpas...it's the undeniable law of the jungle

a cal degree (which is a lot of work & requires great discipline) helps you marry the girl of your dreams

an oregon degree helps you become the night shift supervisor at a truck stop in medford & probably end up marrying a lot lizard

congrats to the bears couple, alex & servando!

another blue chip student athlete from the northwest, welcome devante downs & his family to the bears family

downs rocks a stirling 3.6 gpa and is interested in pursuing a career as a pharmacist ("it's the #1 ranked chemistry program in the nation")

dd has also noted that bay area weather is quite a bit better than the cold azz drizzly/gloomy seattle weather

like johnny ragin III, downs is a versatile multi purpose athlete which will present multiple opportunities to see the field for coach dykes & staff

devante is hastening his transition to college by planning to enroll at cal next jan as an early entrant...he turned down stanford & washington offers

jared goff as a true freshman passed for 3508 yds (292.3 ave per game) with a 60.3% & 18 tds...he showed (usually) poise behind an inexperienced ol, wrs & a te that showed an adversion to blocking & a starting tb that couldn't break a tackle

next season cal's interior ol will be experienced with a kick azz attitude (tackles tbd) with hopefully a newfound blocking buy in commitment from all the receivers along with a tb that will run hard

jared is a cal bear legacy & mentally tough like his dad jerry

former cal power forward tony gonzalez is announcing that this will be his final season in the nfl

apparently tony wants to spend more time with his wife october...

for the hearing impaired, october is telling tony "go bring in the trash can, mr hall of famer, and no golf for you today, don't forget my mom is going be here at 3:30, you're not gonna wear that shirt are you?"

cal (which is very challenging & sometimes a grind) opens doors with the girl of your dreams

today is the former cal starting pf for the 1996 sweet sixteen bears & greatest te in the history of the nfl's final game

gonzo has 79 receptions this season for the atlanta falcons heading into today's game vs the carolina panthers

unsubstantiated rumor in berkeley is that theo robertson & jay john are reviewing the ncca rulebooks to determine if the 37 yr old has any collegiate bb eligibility left and more importantly, if october can be a mid year enrollee for the dance squad (if you don't think october doesn't do yoga 5 times a week, you are clueless)

congratulations to highly productive corona centennial rb tre watson & his family on his decision to play for the california golden bears & relentless rb coach pierre ingram

tre is interested in criminal justice studies & also participates in charity work along with a wed afternoon bible study group

special recruiting assist goes to teammate & close friend garrett hughes

tw will have the opportunity to continue the current cal legacy of 1000+ yd & nfl rbs like marshawn lynch (beastmode), javid best, shane vereen, jj arrington & justin forsett

pretty stoopid question above asked before tre watson's sr season, "can tre break 2000 yards in 2013?"

tre rushed for 3734 yards in 2013 with an amazing 8.95 ypc on an iron man 417 carries during corona centennial's 12-3 season

despite playing much tougher competition every week, watson was significantly more productive than mixon and just as importantly, a much better student thx to tre's 3.5 gpa

a buddy of mine (he's a phx thunderbird, former sun devil bb player & asu donor) took his son john & luke rubenzer to the phx open

he spent most of the day with luke & was tremendously impressed by luke's maturity & apparent leadership qualitities...his comment was that "the guys in the bears huddle are going to go to war for luke" (that wasn't exactly the case with our video game champ)

luke told him that boise state told him he would start as a soph & that other major programs made promises but that the cal coaching staff & the academic reputation of cal were the deciding factors

luke rubenzer & tre watson were arguably the most productive 2014 pac qb & rb duo despite playing against elite level hs competiton...with luke's 4.2 gpa & tre's 3.5 gpa, they are ideal cal fits

my buddy showed me a cell phone picture of his son (who is a legit 6'1") standing next to luke at the open...luke is around 6' & was proudly smiling with a cal hat

thanks for sharing Shocky. truth be told, i had doubts about Luke when his team dropped to Chaparral (one of the better teams they face all season) in the opener. 14/35 for 199 yds, 1 TD and 3 INTs. but he proved me wrong the rest of the season!

i was at the chaparral game (i live in north scottsdale)

luke's center was seriously injured on the 2nd play of the game & his replacement oc literally bounced on the ground or fired it over his head every snap all nite...rubenzer also picked up a personal foul in the 1st half

but it was clear then that luke's got a rocket for an arm, that he is ferociously competitive (to a fault) & that he is more athletic than the safeties the bears started last season after sebaastian went down

nyc, yes he is as quick in game action as on the tapes...but it's not the quickness that makes him special, it is the decisiveness & absolute selling out of his body with his movements that makes him special

as a pt of reference last season's bears rbs often moved laterally & did not hit holes with conviction (in all fairness ol blocking was inconsistent & receivers blocking other than darius powe was non existent)

rubenzer's off the charts fb iq & instincts allow him to make split second decisions followed by movement without hesitation

with these rare skills in mind that while watching him play last season i often thought rubenzer would've been more effective than cal's safeties after avery went down
