I was thinking along the lines of grayshirting, which I why I threw that number out there.

Daje is being recruited as an athlete but tedford has stated that he prefers him as a corner and that's where Johnson prefers as well.

Need to add S Jordan Morgan (2011 grayshirt) to the commit total

That's true, but only if they are enrolled for the spring semester. If we have a situation like CJA, who had to enroll in the fall due to needing to complete units during the summer, that can't be back-dated. So, we can think of JUCO spring signings as EEs, it's basically the same thing.<br /><br />It sounds like Salt would fit the bill. Not sure what other JC targets we have, if any, off-hand.

if Cal got the safety Bowman, does anyone know if he is a spring enrollee? For my money, that would be huge.

I think we might target 2 TE's if we can get them..and some are under the opinion we could land both McNamara and Kourtzidis or neither...but it might just happen we end up with both... great job ..

With Miller on the way out, Hagan has been the only returnee that has made mucn noise so far. Ladner keeps getting hurt, and Wark and Rodgers have yet to show they'll be consistently productive.

Get more TEs. I recall a certain junior university recruiting a lot of tight ends with some pretty good results. They can play multiple positions if necessary

My personal wish list (in order of need/impact) IMO:<br /><br />1. Thompson (an Ed Reed-type leader/playmaker on D + Cal legacy)<br />2. Diggs (bigtime DeSean/KA21-like playmaker)<br />3. Goldman or Shittu (pick one up, pair him with Tiny and go back to 4-3 lol)<br />4. Bowman (like Shaq, an Ed Reed-type leader/playmaker on D + stick it to SC)<br />5. Armstead or Odenigbo (to bolster an already deep underclassman DE group + he'll help basketball + stick it to SC or Stanfrod depending who we get)<br />6. Adams (we need CBs BADLY)<br />7. Wright (see Adams...we need at least two)<br />8. Woods (a speedster in the slot to complement Harris) <br />9. Cochran (we need a C among the upperclassmen if Brazinski doesn't step up)<br />10. Powe (big target to complement Treggs and Walker)<br />11. Taito (because we need some quality guard play to go with the tackles)<br />12. Banner (fill out the depth we're building at OT w another stud + will help basketball)<br />13. Salt (because he's more of a realistic target than Goldman and Shittu right now)<br />14. a K that can make XPs

13. Salt is targeted as an OG. He's not a Plan B for Goldman/Shittu.

Dozier is coming in as a WR I believe. Looks like Cal is thin at cornerback especially with McClure's knee injury but...

I believe the "25 max" rule only counts scholarships for students coming in for 2012. Any EE's that commit in December and start School in the Spring I believe do NOT count against the 25. That is how some SEC schools consistently end up with 27 or 29 "signees".<br /><br />So, I'm not sure if AA, Jordan, or Kline would count against the 25 or not. Perhaps not, but I'm not sure when Jordan in coming to school. This is probably a question better answered by MB.

Adjusted the list above to put Salt in the OG category.<br /><br />Wish list aside, I think at the very LEAST we NEED to score:<br /><br />1. Shaq<br />2-3. Adams + any of the CBs on the list<br />4. Cochran<br />5. Taito or Salt<br />6-7. any 2 out of the WR/ATHs on the list above <br />8. one stud DE from the list above<br />9. a K who can make XPs (even if D'amato emerges next year, he'll be a SR)<br /><br />That's minimum, and I think that's very realistic.<br /><br />Provided we keep what we have right now, anything else would be gravy to me (although I am the biggest Bowman fan on this board), but the guys above are needs in my opinion.<br /><br />IMO, the RB crop this year is weak and I wouldn't waste a schollie on it, unless JT and Gould don't feel any of the guys who haven't contributed so far (Briggs, Yarnway, Ervin, Lasco) will not do it in the future. You're already looking at a Sofele/Anderson/Deboskie/Bigelow rotation for next year...and while I've been hearing little about Briggs, Yarnway, and Ervin, several players have raved to me about Lasco in practice. That makes 5 in the backfield--and you know that won't last long before someone sees the writing on the wall and transfers.

Cal doesn't need a TB for 2012, but loses at least 3 (Isi, CJA, and CDJ) and maybe 5 (Briggs/Yarnway) before 2013, That's a ton, so I think Cal needs to put one in the 2013 pipeline via blueshirt now. 3 TBs in the 2013 recruiting class is a tall order even with JC/prep splits.

I think after next year the team is looking at Bigelow and Lasco basically. I think it would make sense to get one and use the blueshirt right away.

Scratch WR Woods (to Oklahoma) and add OTs Moore and Wheeler ('SC commit) to targets.
