Congrats to Marshawn. For the third time in his career he's gone over 1000 yards in a season. He now has 1011 yards. His career high is 1115- he's got two games to pass that mark.

Marshawn has had a few disappointing periods in his career but he's now had 3 1000 yards seasons out of 5 in the league, despite playing on lousy (and now, arguably, mediocre) teams the whole time. It'd be nice to see what he can do on a team with a legit passing threat just once in his career.

Rushing for 1,000 yards in the NFL these days really doesn't impress me a lot. In Marshawn's case, it works out to about 75 yards/game. All things considered, this is probably his best year in the league and a nice achievement but that's about all. That he's been able to resurrect a career threatened by some questionable off-field incidents does impress me.

Marshawn is 8th in the NFL to date with 1,011 yards. He's only 75 total yards (6.25 yards/game) behind the 4th place Ray Rice. He's tied for 2nd in TDs with Adrian Peterson behind only LeSean McCoy (and Cam Newton if you count non-RBs).

This is the first time in four years he's had over 200 attempts and he has a shot at running for the most attempts in his career (he rushed 280 times in Buffalo as a rookie). Hard to produce as an RB, when you are a physical runner like Marshawn, without getting the attempts.

Anyway, yeah, I think it's a pretty impressive season. I heard a brief mention on NFL Network that the Seahawks plan to franchise him, but that appears to be speculation at this point.

Thanks for the correction, I've edited the original post.

Marshawn is having his best season as a pro. He has become the face of that offense and is noticeably more explosive this year. He dropped some weight and looks like the guy we remember who had the power to break tackles but also the speed to get around the corner and outrun guys. He is going to get a nice payday after the season.

Seattle is such a better city for Marshawn to play in than Buffalo.

Lynch can put a team on his back for wins and he should get paid for it.

I just hope he does not beat up his body too much during his career.

Nice to see Marshawn turn things around (they LOVE him in Seattle) in a contract year - hope he gets paid. Lynch has dropped about 10-12 lbs from last season. If he finishes strong he's got a shot to make the pro bowl. I wish Lynch could play on a team with a strong OL and if possible a viable passing threat like he enjoyed at Cal.

I always hear every good running back run behind a good offensive line, well Marshawns season is surely an exception. It's truly amazing what Marshawn is doing after losing half of his starting OL to injuries, especially considering the starting OL was average at best in the first place.

About his playing weight, I read somewhere Buffalo wanted him to gain weight and essentially turn him into a plowder. Which is ridiculus because Marshawn is such a dynamic talent, why turn a great all around back into a one dimensional back? :crazy Just another sign of Buffalos incompetence.

Happy for Marshawn to be in a good situation like Seattle, I have a feeling the best is yet to come.

However, he's a professional and ought to give his all wherever he is and for whomever. That also means acting like a model citizen, especially with the media the way it is. He's like a big goofy kid who loves life and playing football, but that has gotten him in trouble. I'm thrilled that he's turned his career around and is destroying defenses.

Doing it three times on two different, and not very good, teams is especially difficult.

We're justifiably proud of our string of great RBs under JT. Precisely one of those great RBs has a 1000 yard season to his credit in the NFL - and he has three. In fact, I'm not sure any of the others have even a 500 yard season yet - though I'm hopeful Shane or Jahvid will get the chance one day.

I can only wonder what kind of numbers the Green Bay offense would be able to put together if they'd put together an offer for Marshawn last year after Grant went down.

....but here is hoping he only gets 25-35 yards on Saturday and NO TDs and the Niners smoke the Seahawks...that's my deal now!

:cheer

Great to see. Wondering should all the former Cal players on the Seahawks have more impact on recruiting in the pacific northwest? Thanks.

Skip Bayless called Marshawn the best RB in the NFL 'right now' on ESPN First Take this morning.

Clinton Portis picked Maurice Jones Drew and Kordell Stewart chose Frank Gore.

I'd be more pumped if I didn't consider Bayless to be a complete asshat, but its great to see Lynch getting some love.
