Why it seems like we fail to make halftime adjustments.

I was fearing that this would happen... tight game in the first half.

Opponents go in and change according to what they see in that hard fought half.

We come out just basically doing what we were doing or just thinking we can get the game plan done.

You know they're going to make adjustments. I don't see much difference from one half to another and that kills us in the end.

<img src="<img src="<img src="<img src="" />" />" />">

We have a washed up, incompetent coach running the show.

Well we did come out of halftime and got a TD. And for a couple of series, the D was pretty dominant, esp. at the goal line. That caused them to punt and give us the ball at the 27 (I thought Marvin could have returned that punt for a TD if he ran outside - shouldn't he be faster than 2 of the coverage guys in the open field?). It's hard not to be demoralized as a defense when you do your job and if your counterparts on offense aren't coughing up the ball 5 times, you can't score a single point when they hand you the ball on the Texas 27.

I think the D adjusts as well as they can but they are on the field way too long compared to the Offense. Offense needs to sustain drives. That is the only way to truly win games.

Flashy score all the time in 3 minutes or less are great but it can be negated by a opposition that wears down their defense. Oregon is a prime example of a team that looks great but they need a superior defense as well in order to win a NC.

I doubt they ever do.

Not to say I wouldn't want their firepower. With their scoring attack and our defense we'd win a NC in the next 3 years.

As others have pointed out, we had a beautiful drive to open the 2nd half. Unfortunately, UT responded by finding blown coverage downfield.

I'm pretty sure the UT game plan was to just stay in the game until we made mistakes. They were content to play field position, throw short on 3rd and punt in the first half and just keep backing us down. It worked like a charm when we flinched on the Anger 24 yard shank. I think that was when they opened their playbook for the first time.

They had 12 games of film to study and just relied on us to make a mistake and we obliged over and over again.
