That being said, IMHO LSU and Bama are the most deserving teams to go to the NC game. My point was more in reference to the question of a shared NC. OK St didn't dominate enough to make that happen, and the SEC has once again showed well this bowl season.

The second one wouldn't have won it for them. Oklahoma State got to the one. In a similar situation (I know the dynamic changes a bit) they would have just punched it in rather than center it for a FG.

I would say that one of their bowl victories came against Cal which unfortunately doesn't mean much.
You've demonstrated a valid point, but you can't convince me that the Big 12 holds a candle to the SEC.
All that being said, however, I hate that Alabama is playing LSU in the NC game. The system sucks. I do think the NC has the best 2 teams, but as you point out, it's impossible to know because of the sucky system.

JH had to use up all his timeouts because of JT's play calling.
Then when stanfurd got the ball there was no time to give Toby a breather after he had his 2 long runs. As a result, Toby is sucking wind, and Luck throws to the tight end for the TD (well, intended TD) right into MM's waiting arms.

Im not trying to convince anyone that one conference is better than the other because I dont think any of them ever are. Its all a wash IMO.

As for the bowl game records, I dont think it really means much either. Bad matchups unfortunately plagued the PAC12. Any conference's 4th and 5th teams probably wouldnt have fared too well against Baylor and Boise either

I would like to think that I'm not so churllish that I can't give credit where credit is due, but the Luck love from the announcers had me ready to paint my body orange and go streaking around the neighborhood by the end of the game.

Most nauseating example was where they got so excited about Luck being able to chose from 3 different plays at the line of scrimmage, that they started ignoring the "3" thing and started saying he could chose from the "entire playbook" when he's under center. Really? Is Luck now the OC in addition to being the resident demigod? Gross.

Depending on who you read Luck is Jim Kelly and calls the plays himself, or on a few series has been allowed to choose between a couple of options, or something between those extremes. I think Shaw initially spread the word that Luck calls his own plays but then inquisitive sportswriters found that to be a little bit of Heisman-gaming exaggeration.

I must admit that when they showed the graphic with Luck and RG3 tonight and started talking about how they were quite simply the two finest human beings to ever walk the planet, I just laughed.

Did give a nice symmetry though to the entire bowl season for the announcers to intersperse some RG3 love with tonight's slobberfest for Luck. It might eclipse anything we've ever seen or heard. Mark May might start fapping it on live TV if there is a defensive goal line stand.

It is impossible to know because the SEC never plays anyone of consequence outside the SEC. Beyond LSU ( who I think is the best team in the country) and Alabama, they have shown that they are really not all that good. Georgia lost to Boise - by a lot - and Michigan State. They won their SEC division. So we know that they were not all that. LSU beat Oregon at the beginning of the season, but I think the Oregon who played yesterday was better. If you had a Round Robin tournament between Stanfurd, Oregon, USC LSU and Alabama, I doubt anyone come away undefeated. But hard to know.

This year, the BCS blew it with this game. Oklahoma State won the toughest conference top to bottom. The barely beat the second place Pac 12 team.

Cal_Fan2;664967 said:

Nothing worse than losing a game due to unforced errors.....

The furd handoff fumble on the 2 yard line was an unforced error.

A FG miss is not always an unforced error: it's something that happens a lot, a lot more in college than pros, a lot more on slick grass than a perfect fieldturf surface, a lot more in crunch time than in the first half, and finally a lot more once the kicker has choked once and then has to hit a longer FG under more pressure.

Luck is by all means a great QB. The chances of him throwing an int when trying to drive to the endzone were way less than a freshman kicker missing a big FG.

drunkoski;665465 said:

it's my calling card.

Not sure if JT is cerebral. His strength early on was how he was so well organized, prepared and would outwork everyone. I believe he still outworks everyone but seems like the biggest thing that has dogged him is his conservatism and his ability to find figure out the right QB.
