But my understanding is that this the world we live in for the next two years and, again, I am predicting that the basic "fairness" arguments gets thrown out the moment that Phil finds out the Civil War might get moved or USC is asked to reschedule Notre Dame.

The no bye week thing is a travesty. Didn't this happen to WSU last year? Our conditioning better be over the moon or we could be looking at some serious holes in our team given the lack of any recuperation break. The at tOSU and USC games on the road back to back is brutal. This schedule blows.

This is about 2 things. 1)TV wants to spread out the attractive games. Look what they have done to bowl season. One bowl a day for what seems like a month and half. 2)Furd is puting ND before Cal. Fine. Then they must spread some of that ND payola to us. Tell them no cash no Big Game every year.

Both Furd AD and Sandy are PO'd with this choice. The other option, which would have moved the game to a Saturday at the end of the season was rejected by the other Pac 12 schools. Supposedly, some one else's rivalry game will be impacted next year. Also, there is a Friday night game, which every school now has to do every two years (next year Cal will not have one). Intersting that Cal-Oregon game is so late, and is projected for national TV. Not a surprise, but a lot of the schedule timing was dictated by TV, and not having too many prominant games played on the same week. Welcome to selling your sole.

Have to believe Cal will move somone to late in the year to get a bye.

I don't see how anyone can argue otherwise.

If they are rotating the displaced rivalry games, I guess that is fine, the no bye week is more of a problem to me - I would have preferred it if Scott had symbolically given SC and Stanford a bye over thanksgiving the first two years of the rotation because it's their contracts that are causing the problem. That or encourage another similar type of OOC game on Thanksgiving by another team or two.

Texas and Oklahoma play in October. So do Georgia and Florida (in most years). If anyone doubts how LA schools are favored, check these schedules out, they could have put the big game on Nov. 24 and put Stanfurd v. Also, they are the final game for al those schools except for USC/UCLA. UCLA goes to Furd and USC plays ND for the final regular season game.

This is the cost of throwing in with Larry Scott and the drive for bucks. These are old rivalries not shared by the other 8 conference teams. Specifically:

Cal-USC involves the oldest 2 schools in the state;

Cal-Southern Branch is the only rivalry among big time Bowl subdivision team involving two schools from the same system;

Stanford-SC involve the only 2 private schools in the conference;

Stanford-Sothern Branch . . . (well, I'm sure there's something special about this game!)

2. I can assure you that if Southern Branch had an on-campus facility, they would not have any Thursday night games either. (And their neighbors are wealthier and more politically connected than ours.)

I of course know all about our rivalries....but all I said is that Cal and Furd got some allowances that other schools didn't....that is in fact true....and honestly, you are throwing in a hypothetical about the Bruins having an on campus facility?....hypotheticals are not in play here.... Cal and Furd don't have to play Thursday night home games...this is another allowance. I'm not excusing anything about the new schedule, I'm just answering someone who thinks we don't get any breaks...we have got a couple breaks and thems are the facts

The only way we could get away with Thursday night games would be to play them off-campus.

I do think that seniority should have its privileges. We are one of the 5 charter members of this 12-team conference.

The only solution is expansion to 16 teams, with the original Pac-8 forming its own division.

We got screwed.

Weren't we saying at one point that 2012 was going to be our breakout year? Hopefully all these setbacks are little ones, and this will light a fire under next year's team. And if this isn't motivation enough, the chance to get some payback at home vs. Oregon, Washington, UCLA, and now furd....on Oct. 20.....should do it.

I cannot believe that Sandy and the folks at Stanford voted this as their first, second or third choice and if they did that's a problem. I would have rather they register a protest vote and leave it at that.

Cal has made lots of demands. We wanted to play SC early. So we request to play SC early, not play Thursday games, insist on getting both LA schools every year and bong playing on Thanksgiving weekend. By refusing to play Thanksgiving weekend, Cal guaranteed that it could not get a bye. If we had just agreed to BG on Thanksgiving, we could have had a bye at the perfect time, on Oct. 20th.
