he's a beast, best athlete in the EBAL hands down. he played on our 7v7 team II with kline's heir, cameron birse (ranked in the top 25 2013 QBs on 247). kid didn't go to any camps and didn't really do anything to get recruited, so is flying under the radar to an extreme. i'm working on getting him profiles up on sites but i can tell you he probably won't be ranked very high even if scouts get their hands on his tape cause no one outside of the EBAL has any info on him. poor kid was stuck on a horrible livermore team but got his recognition from the coaches in the league with all east bay team and area all-star team selections. he played in the Holiday Classic (East bay vs sac) that no other big name kids wanted to play in, but that's the only all-star game invite he had. <br /><br />kline was all about getting him an offer and i can guarantee that he had a hand in getting the staff to take a look at him. he's coming in as a return man, but i wouldn't be surprised to see him used as an athlete/weapon in space at some point, even with guys like dozier and others coming in. <br /><br />and it actually does have some significance in the recruitment of some other kids, but we'll see what the final impact is

yeah i was expecting a more drastic reaction. shrug.<br /><br />return man/special teams. possibly an offensive utility guy down the road, but stated as a special teams specialty player.<br /><br />he is a "soft commit", mostly cause he will be taking visits to UW and oregon, but he doesn't have offers from either of them as of yet. the UW recruiting coordinator is in the area (he came into our place tonight to meet with Jake Simonitch, Kline's LT), so it wouldn't shock me to see him get one right quick, or maybe when he goes up for the visit, but he is committed.

Thanks Jesterno, Drew really stood out on film, can tell he's a baller. I know they are highlights, but it seems like Drew is the only difference maker for Livermore, on offense and defense. Those types of players don't stay on the bench in college.

true that. drew exemplifies everything that is tough to stomach with recruiting, from a ratings and notoriety standpoint at least. im glad he's committed to Cal, and a little worried about his UW and UO visits, but im confident he stays home. the attitude and swag this kid plays with are incredible to watch, i can't wait to see him in the blue and gold.

That we decided Drew was definitely worth finding a scholarship for, regardless of how the rest of the class pans out, and this won't have any bearing on anything else?

@ liverflukes - haha, true<br /><br />@ BTUR - it isn't that we're worried about losing guys, it is just becoming more and more apparent which guys we actually have a legitimate shot with and which ones we really don't. we don't need to make the numbers work, we'll be fine there given all the open schollies due to seniors leaving, early enrollee spots and potential for greyshirts. this isn't like last year where we need to pick between 2-3 guys and decide which we have room for, and we shouldn't see any puka lopa late offer scenarios this year. we have room for just about anyone who wants to come at this point given how things have shaken out at various positions.<br /><br />@ CF2 - speaking of "just about anyone who wants to come", funny that you mention Dalis. there are some interesting things brewing right now in the wake of Damariay's commitment. hopefully it doesn't actually amount to anything.

I know the coaches are trying to get Bryan Harper to recommit. There's also Randy Uzoma out of LA. Don't think this guy is very high on Sark's wishlist.<br /><br />UW's class is pretty mediocre right now. We need linebackers, o-linemen, and d-linemen. Offensive players definitely aren't the priority.

Drew could play any of a number of positions, don't know if he really has a preference on which one or if that would allow UO or UW to sway him by offering a different role, but i doubt it. I know he'll handle some kicks, but he could also end up being either a defensive or offensive utility depending on what the coaches want. he is really the only true ATH we're bringing in at this point seeing as Dozier is being brought in as a WR, and other guys who are ranked as ATH are being targeted at specific positions.

I'm happy that we got a guy who is being called a stud but I would be even more happy if someone showed me some film! Is it on youtube?

From your original post I thought you were going tell us that they were doubling the Porta Potties at CMS?<br /><br />A stud on his H.S. football team doesnt equate to the same in college.<br /><br />Nobody flies under the radar anymore with Rivals, Scout & ESPN, Facebook & Twitter.<br /><br />This reminds me of the recruitment of C.J. Moncrease from Laney JC who looked like a real stud on his video. But mostly the last two years has played on special teams.
