This published by Cal Media Relations, republished here for your convenience:<br /><br />BERKELEY Eight former Cal football players are on active rosters for the NFL Playoffs that begin with the league's Wild Card Weekend this Saturday -Sunday, Jan. 7-8.<br /><br />Five of those eight Brian De La Puente (New Orleans), Thomas DeCoud (Atlanta), Tony Gonzalez (Atlanta), Cameron Jordan (New Orleans) and Mike Mohamed (Denver) are on teams that play on Wild Card Weekend.<br /><br />Shane Vereen of AFC East champion New England, and Desmond Bishop and Aaron Rodgers of NFC North winner and defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay, begin their post-season action in the Divisional Playoffs the weekend of Saturday-Sunday, Jan. 14-15.<br /><br />De La Puente and Jordan are on a New Orleans team that also won the regular-season NFC South title, while Mohamed is a member of AFC West champion Denver.<br /><br />Three other former Cal players Jahvid Best (Detroit), Andre Carter (New England) and Syd'Quan Thompson (Denver) are on the injured reserve lists for playoff teams.<br /><br />Rodgers was recently selected as the NFC's starting quarterback for the 2012 NFL Pro Bowl, while Carter and Gonzalez were named reserves.
