Did he enroll at Cal or is he still deciding? I can't find what happened through all these threads.<br /><br />If he does not attend classes I am assuming he can sign the LOI in Feb but will not be EE. Correct?

He's still deciding. A friendly Irish poster picked his way through our warring threads yesterday I think with an update. I think its possible he won't be an EE at all, or he might make up his mind within the next 2 days.<br /><br />Don't get your hopes up on this one and let it go I think.

SC posters say both Armstead bros are going to ND.

Good luck to AA whatever he chooses. In addition to a great athlete, seems like a good kid with a good family.

If he is not on campus and taking classes by now, he's going to have a very tough start at Cal. With all the cutbacks, students can no longer find classes in the first week with the ease they used to. As of today, there are few classes with open seats that are desirable. The classes that have available seats are typically with boring professors in a hard subject and start at 8am.<br /><br />If a student came to me and said he/she had no enrollments at all and was just starting to look for classes, I would advise to student to consider taking the semester off rather than spend a lot of money for courses that probably don't apply to the major and are going to be difficult to pass.<br /><br />So if AA is going to come here, he better start soon or he'll have a tough time making eligibility for the Fall.

I would be beyond ecstatic if we could still land him.

He can miss maybe 2 weeks of class and still enroll EE.<br /><br />Right now AA is EE no where but we are still in the mix.<br /><br />I'm sure he may be waiting for things to settle here before locking in his decision.

Pretty sure Athletes can get into whatever classes they want. They usually get priority and if they are waitlisted, they get put on the top.

If Shaq and Arik do decide to come to Cal, can we get a posse of fans, say, 2-300, to drive up to Sacramento and hold an impromptu party in the street in front of their family homes? Cal band anyone? That would be wild fun!<br /><br />Seriously?

Facilities, facilities.<br /><br />Our ability to attract assistant coaches is supremely enhanced by facilities.<br /><br />Seen the SAHPC? It is the Taj Mahal.<br /><br />Attracting quality coaches to perfect their art in that facility will not be difficult for JT.<br /><br />It appears that we just got a big upgrade at WR coach. No reason not to believe we can't get a quality hire at DL coach.<br /><br />Then AA sees it, relaxes, and completes the EE enrollment.<br /><br />BTW, there is no reason to believe that AA has already reserved a spot in the classes he wanted at Cal. The method for activating his EE is actually attending class. I believe he has two weeks to make his decision.

AA wants to play with family. Tosh sold him a family at Cal that would be here for his duration as a student athlete (instead of just one year). Tosh leaving threatened the family that AA was interested in. If recruits stay committed/show that the family is still strong despite the departure, then I can see that as being a good thing.<br /><br />I may be naive here...but if I'm Armond, I want to stick it to USC. That means for him its likely ND, since Cal isn't an option. I'd be surprised if AA goes somewhere other than ND or Cal...but I've been surprised before. If anyone's a dark horse here it seems it would be Oregon.<br /><br />Cal I'm pretty sure was the choice until Lupoi did what he did. As I said elsewhere if either ND or Auburn had been the initial choice Lupoi leaving wouldn't have mattered to AA at all or delayed his decision. He'd be in class in South Bend or Auburn as we speak (type). But I can't recall him mentioning Oregon as a top contender until yesterday.<br /><br />Oregon's on quarters so they haven't started classes yet I don't think. Could be he's just processing his enrollment there and waiting to hear back, but I don't think there'd be any doubt about the outcome of that...and certainly not enough to delay announcing.<br /><br />I'm not saying he'll end up at Cal, just that the circumstances seem to indicate he was done with his decision and ready to start classes at Cal and he may understandably be having some difficulty deciding what to do now that everything's been shaken up on him at the very last minute. Based on how all that went down, and particularly how it impacted their timeframe, I can't imagine he or his family are too happy with Lupoi right now.

I guess the Armsteads are friends with the family of Duck Freshman CB Terrance Mitchell. In the visit afterglow the Oregon boards were full of insider type posters claiming knowledge that they were his favorite or at least in the favorites mix. I agree that he seemed all set to go to Cal and was surprised to see him list Oregon as back in it yesterday. The longer this drags out the better. I'm not saying that we'll land him, but our odds increase ever so slightly with each passing day he doesnt commit.

I hope all of those kids know that Cal is far more than 1 recruiter...and far better than a mediocre husky program/diploma...think big picture kids.
