I have to tell you, the whole issue about taking responsibility for telling a player to fake an injury is retarded. If something like that drives resentment, the guy is entirely too self-absorbed. Know one cares. Again, it is a useful excuse to blame the other guy for the decision you made but it is pure rationalization.

You learn much about a person about how he handles success and adversity. We learned that we did not need Tosh at Cal. Sooner or later his integrity and ethical compass would fail. Better it be somewhere else.

I liked the fake injury tactics. I don't like the fact that he stabbed his alma mater in the back. Call me crazy.

I wasn't at the game and have only seen the "highlights" (well, mainly Tipoti's bad acting).

But here's my question: Was it only D-Linemen who were getting "injured?" I know that Anthony got concussed by the cheapshot WR so that was a DB down (but one who was actually hurt). But were there any DBs or LBs who went down with "injuries" during the game?

If not, then it seems more likely that the injuries may have been a Tosh-inspired situation. If it was other positions on defense as well, then it makes it more likely that it was a Clancy or even a JT-endorsed strategy.

Further, if my memory serves me, the whole thing was going to blow over until Tosh was quoted in a story about it. After Tosh was quoted, then he got suspended. So it could very well be the case that the coaches were going to circle the wagons. Then Tosh gets quoted and the pressure starts to come from the administration that he needs to be disciplined.

Would be curious if someone who attended the game can comment on the "injured."

BerlinerBaer;684086 said:

Completely agree. I never played football but I'd imagine a player on D would look toward his position coach for the sideline call. That would have been Tosh.

I find it unlikely that JT was involved in premeditating this, considering how hands off he is with defense. Coach P may have been in on it, but I doubt anything organized was planned.

I hope that all Cal grads are doing well and being paid what they are worth but GET A GRIP and some perspective.
1) I know a lot of very wealthy Cal grads, but I also know a lot of our fellow alums (and Ivy league grads for that matter) who are struggling in this very difficult economy.
2) Is our sense of self worth, intelligence and accomplishment solely tied to how much we make?
Time to grow up...
