Hoping it's this guy?<br /><br />Dwaine Board was named the Browns' defensive line coach on January 31, 2011.<br /><br />Board brings 30 years of NFL experience as both a player (10 years) and coach (20 years) to the Browns' defense. During his career, he has been a member of teams that have made 18 playoff appearances, claimed 15 division titles, advanced to six Super Bowls and won five Super Bowl championships.<br /><br />Board most recently spent the 2009 season as the defensive line coach of the Oakland Raiders. That season, defensive ends Greg Ellis and Trevor Scott each led the team with seven sacks, which tied for 13th in the AFC.<br /><br />Before joining the Raiders, he spent six seasons (2003-08) as the defensive line coach of the Seattle Seahawks. In his first season at the helm of the Seahawks' defensive line, the team's run defense rose to 19th in the NFL after finishing last in the league the previous season. The club also ranked fourth in the NFC and tied for seventh in the NFL with 41 sacks. The defensive line posted 36 sacks in 2004, and was responsible for 32.5 of the team's NFL-leading 50 sacks in 2005. That season also saw the Seahawks' defense allow only one 100-yard rusher and set a franchise-low average of allowing 94.4 rushing yards per game, which ranked fifth in the NFL. The team also ranked second in the NFL by allowing only five rushing touchdowns on the season. In fact, over a four-year period from 2005-08, the Seahawks defense ranked second in the NFL with 136 sacks.<br /><br />Board joined the NFL coaching ranks in 1990 as the defensive line assistant with the San Francisco 49ers after a successful 10-year playing career. He was promoted to defensive line coach in 1994. In 1998, the 49ers' defense ranked second in the NFL with 51 sacks, as they were led by Chris Doleman's team-leading 15, which ranked third in the league. During his 20 seasons as a coach, Board has tutored 10 Pro Bowlers, including Dana Stubblefield, who was named 1997 NFL Defensive Player of the Year when he posted a career-high 15 sacks, and Bryant Young, who was selected to four Pro Bowls and was named 1999 NFL Comeback Player of the Year under Board's direction.<br /><br />A fifth-round (137th overall) draft choice of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1979 NFL Draft, Board was released by the Steelers and joined the 49ers as a rookie, where he registered a team-leading seven sacks. He played with San Francisco from 1979-88, and retired in 1988 after joining the New Orleans Saints for the final four games of that season. Board tallied double-digit sack totals each year from 1983-85, including a career-high 13 in 1983. He was a member of each of the 49ers' first two Super Bowl championship clubs, and earned Super Bowl XIX Defensive Player of the Game honors after recording four tackles and two sacks during San Francisco's 38-16 victory over the Miami Dolphins.<br /><br />A native of Rocky Mount, Va., he was a three-time All-America selection at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, N.C., after graduating from Franklin County (Va.) High School.
