Losing coaches to UW hurts us, but I don't think the beneficiaries will be UW so much as our southern opponents, who have generally done a much better job of recruiting in CA. We have started to pull talent away that had historically gone to $C and sUCLA. This is a little bit of a setback (exhibit A is McCarthy, who I could tell was not super solid at the AA game announcement and is now on to sUCLA). UW may get a recruit or two out of this who was coming our way, but in the end, if that happens - it really probably is for the best. A recruit who would go there after how he comported himself in leaving the program vs. what he had been saying on the trail, we probably will be better off without that recruit even if he is extremely talented player.

Anyone who's been to Seattle or have friends that live there get depressed by the weather.

It's the CONSISTENT rain throughout the ENTIRE year.

If it's "sunny" put an asterisk next to it as it'll cloud up quick...and then spritz on you....AGAIN!

Then you deal with some snow in the winter...and then it's back to rain.

The constant rain nag eats at you and if you're spoiled by California weather can get you depressed right quick.

It is what it is.

Excellent point. The one guy we've definitely lost went where? UCLA. Is Armstead likely headed to Seattle? I agree that whatever attrition we suffer from this more likely lands somewhere other than UW. Probably more impact on leaners than actual commits.

Seattle is the 44th rainiest city in the US. So no it doesnt rain as much as people are saying. It rains more in NYC and DC.

the provincial following of the scurs by the entire populace. Everyone wears purple and gold to the minimart on game day. Bow wow, one horse town. You might as well be in Nebraska or Arkansas. udub football is bigger than the Seahawks and the Mariners............

The next most depressing thing is we lose to them a lot..........

It's the amount of time it's rainy vs. sunny or partly sunny. That's time you can't be outside, enjoy outdoor activities, eat on the restaurant's patio instead of inside, etc.

The rain isn't deluge-heavy rain, but medium to light rain that beats down on you throughout the year.

And when it ain't raining.....it's cloudy. LOL.

It is definitely a gloomy environment where seasonal depression gets severe for most CA natives. This explains why the pacific north west have the HIGHEST SUICIDE RATE IN THE COUNTRY.

While it doesn't rain a lot in terms of quantity it does rain a lot in terms of frequency. Seattleites get out and do. If you are waiting around for a sunny day you might wait a long time. So, we just go do it.

There is excellent golfing, boating, fishing, hiking, camping and other outdoor activities that can, and are, enjoyed just fine in misty weather. It is really nice when it's nice though<img src="<img src="<img src="<img src="" />" />" />">

Problem is you can count those days without taking your shoes off. You know, as in "remember Saturday before last when it was sunny and 80 degrees" as part of the discussion of what a great summer we're having.

Or, I've been here for 26 fourth of Julys and I can tell you all the ones that were warm and sunny. Sort of like I can tell you every time it rained in the summer in Sacramento in the 15 years I lived there.

Yesterday and today, it was snowing outside. Summer should last three months like it does in California, not three days like it does in the Northwest.

If I knew then what I know now, I never would have married that ***** and let her drag me up here. I desperately want to get back to California.

The one good reason someone might want to play for UW, is it gives them a four year opportunity to realize how stupid it would be to want to live here beyond college. Of course, trying to get a job back in California after college is going to be harder for a UW grad than a Cal grad, so they could be as stuck as I am.

Hey, again, in all fairness, it's fun to visit Seattle...and not just when you get home and say, thank G-d I live in this weather and not that weather. The Pac-12 is lucky to have Seattle in its lineup of gameday destinations.

Looking forward to going up there in fall 2013 when Cal visits UW, i.e. the "We beat the stuffing out of you last year and now we know where sark and lupoi live" game.

HS holds the record for the loudest stadium EVER recorded by ESPN (<a href="<a href="<a href="<a href="<a href="http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwE2LyzOvqc"""""" class="postlink " target="_blank">http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwE2LyzOvqc""""" class="postlink " target="_blank"><a href="http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwE2LyzOvqc""""" class="postlink " target="_blank">http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwE2LyzOvqc"""" class="postlink " target="_blank"><a href="<a href="http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwE2LyzOvqc""""" class="postlink " target="_blank">http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwE2LyzOvqc"""" class="postlink " target="_blank"><a href="http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwE2LyzOvqc"""" class="postlink " target="_blank">http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwE2LyzOvqc""" class="postlink " target="_blank"><a href="<a href="<a href="http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwE2LyzOvqc""""" class="postlink " target="_blank">http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwE2LyzOvqc"""" class="postlink " target="_blank"><a href="http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwE2LyzOvqc"""" class="postlink " target="_blank">http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwE2LyzOvqc""" class="postlink " target="_blank"><a href="<a href="http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwE2LyzOvqc"""" class="postlink " target="_blank">http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwE2LyzOvqc""" class="postlink " target="_blank"><a href="http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwE2LyzOvqc""" class="postlink " target="_blank">http://"http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwE2LyzOvqc"" class="postlink " target="_blank">link<img src="<img src="" />">. Yes, it is usually gloomy here during the winter (cloudy more than actual rain- many other cities have more annual rainfall, even NYC has more), but your statements about gameday atmosphere are completely baseless. Ask anyone east of the Mississippi about gameday atmospheres and they'll tell you that the best on the west coast are Autzen and HS. One thing I can assure you: Memorial is nowhere on their list.

As others have said, it doesn't rain all that much so you should check your facts.

It is very cloudy though. It's very depressing in the winter. North, South and East of San Francisco, even just a few miles, makes a big difference in weather. In fact, I'd bet the North Bay, South Bay and East Bay, of which Berkeley is part, have some of the best weather in the world. Due to micro climates the San Francisco climate is, on average, cold but the surrounding areas have beautiful climates, not too hot or too cold.

Just take a drive from Fairfax (Marin), up 101 to Sausalito, across the GG into SF, over the BB into Emeryville, and up 80 into Berkeley. All micro climates with very different weather patterns.

As far as the Husky fanbase and atmosphere are concerned, I went to a game in the 90s and they had one of the loudest and craziest venues I ever experienced. Six years ago, I went again and the level of energy was noticeably missing. Seattle is still a helluva city but in between, I was bored out of my mind. Spent the rest of the trip fishing. As an angler, oh man....the fishing was out of this world.

If weather was the biggest issue for recruits, they'd all go to fUcla or $C, not Seattle, Berkeley, Eugene, Norman, South Bend or Ann Arbor. That said, LA SUCKS and the weather in Seattle really is shite. Next argument PLEASE?!
