Consider this: If there's something we want to believe, which would it be?

1. Golden Boy left simply to get better pay and more responsibilities. He's still ethical. This opens the possibility of him one day coming back when we can put together the scratch to pay some high-ass salaries.

2. Golden Boy is really Anakin Skywalker. We never want him on our staff again because the guy is really part of the dark side.

Option 1 doesn't make us feel like a bunch of idiots for trusting the guy. It also gives us hope of bringing back one of the best recruiters and most passionate Cal player/coach we've ever had.

Option 2 just leaves us jilted and empty-handed.

I think it's pretty obvious that if we had a choice we would choose option 1. We would only believe option 2 if there was overwhelming evidence to override the benefit of the doubt most of us would give someone has been such a part of Cal.

The notion that we're angry just because he left is silly since we can always bring him back.
