Typical Cal grads - everything subject to critical analysis.<br /><br />Pnaidu - is this part of your San Carlos / Belmont upbringing? Always look to the positive (or non-negative in this case)? My wife and I live on the Peninsula and are thinking of moving to San Carlos or Belmont just for the school system. Carlmont looks like a nice place to go to high school for sure.

I understand why it's in the best interest of Cal football to keep all the posts positive.<br /><br />However, the bottom line is that all Cal fans are butthurt right now and we need to vent, and this is the best spot for that. And if you're not butthurt right now then either you are misinformed or you don't actually bleed blue and gold.<br /><br />Let's make this clear -- what happened to Cal the past two weeks was worse than the 49ers loss yesterday, yet you don't see any Cal fans making death threats. A little internet venting is necessary.

Maybe its just I have always tried to find that silver lining, yes i bleed blue and gold and yes im upset but saying so and so has cut Cal or blank is going to blank school when there is no proof to support their argument. I mean i'm as mad as tom hanks was when wilson left him in castaway but thats not going to help us get better.

It's a message board. Rumors are what we trade in. Some will be false, some will be true. I don't understand the need to require that every post be sourced. If someone is making an argument, that's one thing, but saying so and so is going to a school isn't an argument, it's just run-of-the-mill message board speculation.<br /><br />Edit: and let's make what I think is a poor assumption, that 4 and 5 star recruits decide to forgo school, practice, parties, video games, their friends, endless sexual attention from teenage girls, and Internet pornography and actually spend any significant time on these boards. And then let's assume their iron clad egos could be negatively affected by what they read from a bunch of middle aged desk jockeys. We are definitely not the only bunch of fans that discuss unconfirmed rumors, and many posters who frequent other sites can attest to how rabid the fans of other programs can be (especially the biggest ones). So at the very worst we merely cancel out the idle speculation produced on every other fan board in the country. Plus it's fun!

We were on our way and then took a bit of a hit there with Toosh leaving.<br /><br />I'm a lifetime niner fan but if I had the choice I would easily pass over a niner nfc championship in favor of getting back any recruits Cal may have lost on signing day. Cal sports are the greatest!<br /><br />That recruiting class was bound for 4 Big Game victories and maybe a Rose Bowl appearance. We still have a great set of guys coming in but holy cow we would have been in really great shape if everyone had stuck. It's too bad for the guys that decide to go elsewhere. They are missing out on some special things these next few years! New stadium, Ohio State, new facilities, etc... The next few years are going to be legendary here!!

I think the point is -- OK for positive speculation thread title. Ease up on the negative speculation thread title. We've taken a lot of hits this week on the PR side -- Twitter and otherwise. Nothing wrong with balancing all this out -- both good and bad are speculation at this point. Why not accent the good then? I think that's what some (including me) are doing in Twitter with #calgang. Continue to produce reasons why they should attend Cal, instead of highlighting news alerts that someone enrolled at Furd. Recruits read, they know. If not, someone will tell them or link stuff to them. They're eating all this up. Football is where they are the man, so these are outlets where they can see us recognizing that.
