I think I could have lived happily enough, going to Saturday tailgate parties in Berkeley in my Cal attire, celebrating my Cal heritage, and not really caring if we won or lost. It had been that way the whole time I was growing up. And that worked. Cal football wasn't about winning and losing.

But then, Tedford came and we thought we might go to a Rose Bowl. With Parade route hotel reservations set, tickets for parade and game in hand, it was snatched from us by Texas. Pain!

Slowly we are rebuilding, and along comes the CalGang class, which was preceded by "CalGang -1" last year. I started reading all these blogs, twitter feeds, articles about high school ratings systems, about individual players, and about how this is all going to lead us back to the Rose Bowl again. It became an absolute time wasting addiction, but I got really excited imagining my dreams coming true.

Then, Tosh leaves and it starts falling apart. I realize all is not lost. We still have a good class coming in. But the whole association Cal Football has in my mind is now one of pain - worse than the '04 Texas deal because this is 4 years of watching Shaq and Armstead playing against us. Every time we play them, or I see UO and UW on the scoreboard, I am going to end up thinking of this debacle. For 4 years. And I don't want to feel that way, at all. Maybe I can just boycott Cal football the way I've given up on the NFL and NBA.

When "Cal Football = Pain", and a desire to avoid, it means 'Brand Management SUCKS'!

Hope you are reading this, Sandy! Hire a consultant to explain it to you.

It would have been better, for me, to never have heard about AA or ST. Go ahead and call me names, but I don't need this.
