While it did not work it was interesting to hear on radio today that the trojans used AD Haden, a great guy, to vist with Kyle Murphy to try and convince him to come to SC instead of Stanford. How cool would it be to be able to send in a NFL QB and Rhodes Scholar to meet with a smart kid like Murphy. His brother goes to Harvard so obviously Stanford won out because of academics. I guess the fact that they will have two first round picks from the O-Line didn't hurt.<br /><br />As hard as it is to say SC blew it up today and Stanford was not far behind.<br /><br />Go get em Bears.

pat is a great guy and i enjoyed meeting him this year at san francisco golf club on the morning of our usc thursday night game<br /><br />very sincere and will run an ethical program...watch out lane!<br /><br />he's a member (around a 5 handicap stick) at augusta national and pine valley along with los angeles country club....

Haden is nearly beyond reproach. He was a genius hire by the Toejam brass, and likely the ONLY guy with $C ties that can look a kid in the eye and be believable and honest. He was a major worry to me in competing against them down the line, and it seems as though he is paying dividends. Anything is better than having Lame Kitten try to be honest and believable. That is a task bigger than climbing Mount Everest.

How about Vince Ferragamo as the closer? At least he went to Cal. As an L.A. Rams fan, I loved Pat Haden. But Vince is the one that finally got us over at least to the Super Bowl.

Bad choice. Farragamo couldn't compete and left us for Nebraska. Plus, kids these days don't remember the LA Rams.

Depends. If he did this during an official visit, I think it is OK. If Haden called him or visited him off campus, then he is just a booster. That would be a violation. I'm sure he met with Murphy during the official visits. For example, professors meet with recruits all the time to discuss the academic aspect.

I am not sure I would say that Ferragamo couldnt compete.

I thought only coaches could make official visits. I don't even think grad assistants can make contact.

The reason it was allowed was because USC was down one recruiter (the DB coach, Willie Mack Garza.)
