I hope we get both these guys. I did some back reading on Bennett - the fact that Howard recruited him tells us that HE thinks highly of him. Too bad about WSU pulling his offer.

I'm fascinated by people's fixation on "recruiting rankings" - has recruiting itself become a sport? Is there a championship trophy awarded by the NCAA?

Seems to me the biggest variable in results on the field is quality of coaching. As others have noted, UCLA had a number of "top 10" recruiting classes during the Neuheisal regime. Are there banners in Pauley Pavilion proclaiming these the way we have banners in Haas for our Sweet 16 appearances?

Really? I wouldn't. Also, I don't think either of these two acted like divas. They both listened to their parents and went to the local school. I wish Shaq would have done the same.

ESPN says fletcher runs a 4.9 forty. For whatever thats worth.

He has excellent speed. His real time is closer to 4.5, and he is a sprinter on the OLU track team:gobears:

To be fair to the kid, we need to see what he does this upcoming Track Season at OLU in terms of straight-line speed (I think he shows improvement)....and it would be nice to get [U]an explanation from him and/or his Coaches about his self-reported stats[/U]. That VJ of 44" is unreal....and unfair if it leads observers to the wrong conclusions.

Yes, I was thinking Safety or (Weakside) LB, somewhat along the same lines as you. In his defense, he does look pretty good on game-film. Maybe he has some inherent athleticism and skills that only shows up in uniform and during a game (for ex. Jerry Rice's "gamespeed").

The Coaches see something in him, that's for sure. I'll have to defer to them re: Willie.
