I wonder if this is the only time a go-ahead score in the last minute of the SUPER BOWL will be called a strategic error.

49ers woulda crushed the Pats. That's my sour grapes take on it.

I blame Madonna and her mystical Kabbalah half time show where she imposed an old Hebrew curse on the Patriots.

A field goal no matter how short is never a sure thing. I would go for the TD too.

It was a close game at the end but it just didn't feel very exciting. It felt like a mediocre Super Bowl in that sense.

Actually, the bad Karma came from the presence of Russ Limbaugh in the Patriots' plantation owner's box...

"Russ" did not cause Wes Welker to drop a ball that hit him in the hands with nobody near him. That was essentially the game.

Tom Brady, wonder boy, threw up a failed Hail Mary into the end zone on the final play.

You gotta admit, that's pretty lame. Right?

Maybe, a la Broadway Joe, he did not abstain...(ahem!), which resulted in his less than super performance...

The Super Bowl needs more blowouts.

I'm tired of these games coming down to the final minute.

That's BS.

You can't spell Elite without "Eli." Let's face it: Eli is pretty damn good.

Eli was the man (again), not Brady. Although Welker should (could) have caught that ball Brady had time and he was wide open. It was a really poor throw plus the safety on the first play of the game was really dumb play and turned out to be the difference between needing a field goal for a tie and a touchdown on the last drive.

Yes, Brady had two throws he could have made to extend that drive and put the Pats in position to win. He missed Welker (who still could have caught it, but a better pass means he doesn't have to leap for it) and then threw behind Branch. Complete one of those and New England is probably hoisting the trophy.

I'm a NY giants fan. Been one since the early 80s. Imho Eli is an ok QB...I wouldn't put him up there in the top group of QBs (Brees, Rodgers, Brady). The Giants have a darn good defense and it allows Manning to play very controlled. In all honesty..he kind of reminds me of an old Giant QB in Phil Simms. Not spectacular, but didn't make mistakes and doesn't kill your team with turnovers. Kind of hard to judge Brady at this point..I feel he's on the tail end of his career..and you can't knock him for what he has accomplished.

Nah, I'm starting to think its time to accept that Eli is at least a good to very good quarterback. He makes big and clutch throws when it counts.

I thought Manning was significantly off his game tonight. I watched that guy thread pass after pass into incredibly tight coverage in two games against SF, and then again against GB. He and his receivers were just out of synch in the SB. NE doesn't have the rush defense that SF has, and NY could have just pounded the rock tonight and probably won handily. The bone-headed move by Bradley at the end made the game more dramatic than it deserved to be. NY had the game when they moved inside the 20 with less than a minute to play.

Brady still goes home to this. Doesn't exactly suck to be him.

Eli wasn't even the man in the 49ers game as in the second half absent the two turn over drives he was completely stoned.

Yeah - this string of lame, anyone's game into the 4th quarter type of Super Bowls we've had recently is pretty bad.

And to top it off with a Hail Mary on the last play nearly caught by Gronkowski to win it - who wants that?

From a watchability standpoint, the 55-10 blowouts of the past were much more fun.

I didn't have much of a rooting interest to begin with, since I despise the Patriots and don't really care one way or the other regarding the Giants - but I can certainly recall watching other Super Bowls that would be lamer than the 2012 edition just from a game standpoint.

Absolutely this. There are plenty of other Super Bowls that were worse from a watchability standpoint. Lots of uncompetitive blowouts in there, and also some poorly-played contests. This was nowhere near the worst Super Bowl ever. That was probably this one:

I don't know if you've ever watched the America's Game on that Super Bowl

(Click below)

But one of the guys who won that Super Bowl is absolutely embarrassed and ashamed to be associated with that game.

That's just dumb.

It's interesting though that on Brady's late-game miss of Gronkowski (resulting in an interception), the announcers faulted Gronk and his ankle sprain for not getting to the ball, and ESPN's Greg Garber calls it the game's "Worst decision" because it was "ordinarily a good idea. But, slowed by a high ankle sprain, Gronkowski, who was behind Giants linebacker Chase Blackburn, couldn't come down with the jump ball." Huh? Brady underthrew that ball by five yards; if Gronk was slowed by his ankle, why did he have to stop and wait for the ball to arrive? I think it's a case of facts getting in the way of the pregame storyline.
