I was getting my mid-day workout at my local 24 hour fitness and I see a powerfully built black guy in Cal football gear. Didn't recognize him at first until I started talking to him. Really nice guy. Too bad his knee never came around and he is still getting treatment after multiple microfracture surgeries. Still came across as happy and mentioned he was starting his own business and seemed very content. Wished him luck and thanked him for his service to Cal and that ridiculous senior year.

From Wiki:

2004, Arrington played a major role in the Cal Bears' first 10-win season since 1949. He would rush for at least 100 yards in every single game that season. Arrington rushed for 169 yards or more in eight of his team's 12 games as well.

Arrington had one of the greatest seasons of any running back in NCAA and Pac-10 history, gaining 2,018 rushing yards that season. He became only the second Pac-10 Tailback to gain over 2000 yards, joining USC tailback Marcus Allen. His mark is also the tenth best total in NCAA history.

Actually Chandler, Arizona (incidentally the same town that gave us Cam Jordan and CDJ). I think he has connection here due to his time with the AZ Cardinals. I didn't want to interrupt his workout so I didn't ask about his business or if he had an opinion on the Tosh Lupoi thing (even though I wanted to).

And yet he received scant mention in Heisman discussions. That was messed up.

i dont blame him for bein in az hot women everywhere great weather. i got a cousin and two friends from high school that now live in az. that would prob be the reason tho. yea best not to really go to deep into a convo and interrupt em. it's good that he is going to be opening his own business. and he was robbed in 04 he clearly was the best player in the nation that year.

from the Tedford era, considering that he had the most yards/season of ANY Cal running back. Lynch is mentioned by commentators and fans often, as well as Best and the more recent NFL players (Vereen & Forsett), but not Arrington.

He hit the hole decisively/quickly and stayed low, from what I can remember. Good luck to the man with his business.

In hindsight, I have no problem stating that we had one of the top-5 offenses in CFB history in '04. If our special teams do their job down in The Coliseum and our two best receivers don't go down w/ injury, we're national champs.

True, but a great friend of mine (a $C alum and fan) says it constantly. Believe it or not, he roots for Cal, when we're not playIng $C, because of that team.

Ha. Well I really liked the USC basketball team with Glanville and Clancy, despite their idiot coach, but that didn't make me an SC fan :p

He's my favorite Tedford-era running back, and always has been.

Latest info on Wikipedia is that he signed with the Las Vegas Locomotives of the UFL prior to the 2011 season.

Yeah, I liked those $C teams too. I think Scalabrine was on those teams, along with a couple of other solid guys whose names I can't remember. They were pretty good and made the Elite 8 one year. Saw that team at Burger King on Shattuck (or University) one year when I happened to there studying. I know, 'cool story bro'.

What was even more amazing was that other than one long td against new mexico state, I don't recall his having THAT many long breakaway TD's. Unfortunately the one crucial one that he did have against Southern Miss, was called back because of a BS holding call. Had that TD counted, we probably would have been in the RB.
