Saw this on another forum....

Two ESPN pieces.
1) Shaq Thompson is quoted by ESPN saying Tosh Lupoi told him he is thinking about taking the UW job.
2) Tosh Lupoi is quoted by ESPN saying he had never spoken a word about it to any recruit until after he accepted the UW job.

It struck me as completely Neuhiesel-ish and I also wonder how Shaq Thompson likes Tosh Lupoi calling him, in effect, a liar.

http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/ncfrecruiting/on-the-trail/post?id=5536&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fblog%2fncfrecruiting%2fon-the-trail%2fpost%3fid%3d5536

"He came in for a home visit last night and told me he was thinking about taking the UW job and wasn't sure what he was going to do.

http://espn.go.com/blog/pac12/post/_/id/34388/lupoi-talks-about-awkward-split-with-cal

"Obviously, I hadn't spoken a word about it to recruits [before accepting the Washington job], representing a different place, now going into the homes, wearing a different Polo," Lupoi said.

That that's it!

Tosh will never be successful now that he got caught in a lie.

BTW, I am 100% certain that good Shaq will change his story to match if he is asked. So will the family.

And somehow the world will go on.

yes, but if we can't discredit them then we won't have any chance of beating them because, as you know, those two things are intimately linked.

I say, let's just kick their a** come next fall and forget about the rest of this *rap.
Shaq ain't a comin back and neither is Tosh m' gosh.

Have you deemed it inappropriate for somebody to point out Tosh's obvious lies?

Phantom believes that we're all a bunch of ninnies for complaining about Tosh doing what he did. Apparently they didn't teach him the concept of honor at whatever military institution he served at.

Maybe Tosh didn't lie about talking to recruits about it before he accepted. Maybe he had already informally accepted the offer when he visited shaq and told him he was thinking about it. In other words he lied to shaq, he really had accepted the offer, but he went for the in home anyhow to 'include shaq' in the decision.

Probably not, but it's an option.

mvbear46 - are you a criminal defense attorney? Of course Tosh lied - he wanted (needed) to bring in Shaq to validate his big contract. The timing was not a coincidence with shag & AA. Tosh lacks moral character.

Tosh lied. Even if you try to play semantics games, he still comes out of the scenario a liar.

I don't think so. It's much more likely that Lupoi lied. What would Shaq have to gain by saying that Tosh told him at the home visit he might be going to Washington? On the other hand, if Tosh can sell the story that he did not tell any recruit he was thinking of going to Washington until after he had accepted he can say he took the high road. If that's Tosh's story then it shows he acknowledges that saying to a recruit in a Cal home visit that he's thinking of going to UW is dirty.

I was thinking this too. But Tosh would still be lying (to Shaq). Also it would imply that he visited Shaq's house with JT as a UW employee which would definitely be a violation of some NCAA rules.

Bingo! We know Tosh jumped on a plane for Seattle the next morning after he visted Shaq and said he was "considering" the UW offer--he obviously had already accepted the UW offer when he visited Shaq and lied to Shaq about it not being a done deal. Maybe just because he hadn't signed on the bottom line yet. But he knew he had a fight reservation and a contract waiting for him.

Hmmm. That would mean Tosh throwing Shaq under the bus to cover the lie. Sounds like something that supposedly Tosh was not happy about being on the other end.

"I was disappointed I wasn't allowed to speak with Tosh one on one...it was hard to figure out what Tosh was trying to say..."

Sark knows it was completely sleazy, of course, and is protecting like crazy!!

That is not necessarily a lie. Maybe To$h accepted the UW job BEFORE he met with Shaq. Of course that is much worse since he was making the visit ostensibly for Cal but had taken the job with UW.

What I am troubled with is how Shaq would have any respect for To$h under the circumstances and would want to sign with UW. He has shown that he is a slimey bastard; but Shaq wanted to join him any way?

Body Language when Lying

[quote=]Example: Let's say your child asks you for a cookie, and you ask: "Well, what did your mother say?" As they reply "Mom said... yes.", they look to the left. This would indicate a made up answer as their eyes are showing a "constructed image or sound. Looking to the right would indicated a "remembered" voice or image, and thus would be telling the truth.

Exactly. This doesn't strengthen his "I did it the right way" case

As Shaq once said "hatters gonna hat."

We'd love him athletically, but intellectually and morally, neither he nor Tosh appear to have the chops for representing Cal anyway.

The first result from Urban Dictionary:

Tosh:

A derisory term used in the same way as rubbish or crap or bollocks

"This coat of paint is utter tosh"

There are other pretty good ones too...

Reading your own link shows that "left" is referring to your own perspective, not the perspective of the speaker in question. Therefore, your link indicates that Tosh is telling the truth.

Here, I found this link to clear it up for you, since it specifies with words which perspective it is referring to:

http://www.humanliedetection.com/Eyepatterns.php

"Up and to the left- This indicates a visually remembered image. (your right)"

"Up and to the right- This eye movement indicates a visually constructed image. (your left)"

In the picture, Tosh is looking to his left / our right. That indicates a "remembered" thought (truth) as opposed to a "constructed" thought (lie).

Therefore, the captioning on the picture is wrong. Liars look to YOUR left / THEIR right.

Therefore, Tosh is telling the truth.
