Carson Daly joked yesterday that a gay man would/could never take out a terrorist on an airplane.

Which led to this response:

Those are the kinds of "jokes" that come from a fourth-rate (at best) talent like Carson Daly. The response was pure class, and far more civil than Daly deserved.

I don't know that Carson Daly has ever accomplished anything notable, so it's more like he's a "never was".

Yeah. Eff Carson Daly. His greatest claim to fame is "being Ryan Seacrest before Ryan Seacrest existed." I can't think of a lamer accomplishment.

Love the response from Alice Hoagland. Completely punked Carson... I wonder how his feet are tasting this morning.

A lot of the comments were disheartening.

I thought Carson Daly was still a VJ. That guy has absolutely no personality or talent, how he's still in the business is remarkable.

Let me state this in no uncertain terms. I had the honor of knowing Mark not as just a friend, but as part of a brotherhood. He was and will always be a light in a sometimes gloomy background. He was funny, honorable and fearless and acted on 9/11 in a manner that was consistent with with the man that I grew to know from an 18 year-old freshman till his death. Having seen him 2-3 weeks before his death, there is nothing that would have ever changed my view of him. For Carson Daly to say what he said, shows a lack of honor, patriotism and understanding of what exactly happened on that day, everything that a F-list wanna be celebrity is thought to be. Carson Daly is a #$%&^ing moron.

Perfect response. Showing total class in response to an asinine comment does more to show how small and pathetic Carson Daily is than any insult every could.

I think that's the point.

Sometimes, being boring and bland can be an asset. There's no controversy. Just the status quo.

On the other hand, Daly's stupid joke is raising awareness, again, about Mark Bingham, especially for those who don't know his story.

That was great, thanks for posting. Like a few people here I was friends w/ Mark, and Alice never fails to impress. The comments on TMZ are indeed disheartening, but internet comment sections general tend to be that way. I sort of understand the "oh it was just a joke" thing, but that ignores the underlying thought process -- "What's the opposite of tough 'security' guys? Oh, a planeload of gay guys. Sweet, I'm going with that one." That's the stereotype that needs to be discussed, one joke at a time. (Of course, this is probably the first time most of us realized that Carson Daly has a radio show, so perhaps it was better if it was never mentioned..)

Agreed, plus, aside from the bias, even if "just kidding," you would never, ever make that joke if you knew Mark's story, so it was perfectly appropriate for Alice to take the opportunity to tell her son's story. Hopefully somebody learned something from this.

He's boring, completely unfunny, nervous at times. I mean he's Chevy Chase as a talk show host but not as nervous. What did he do to gain a show like this? I mean he brings nothing to table. Nothing. Bring Adam Carolla back to TV.
