actually out of San Jose, morning of Thursday the 13th, into Cleveland (about a two and a half hour drive from Columbus). Arrive 7:35 pm, so you could have dinner at a decent hour.

Return flight, though, leaves Cleveland at 6'ish am on Sunday the 16th, arriving San Jose before noon. Only nightmare there would be a night-time game.

Looks like this fare is good other days, too. So you could fly Friday, fly back Monday.

Found this on United, but other airlines might be close.

That's a good fare. Most of the SW fares out of San Jose to Columbus are in the $450 r/t area.

I'm only seeing $263 for both legs to make $526 round-trip.

Has anyone found decent fares to Ohio out of Oakland, or maybe SFO? At least those are BART accessible.

There hasn't been anything sub $400. I'm guessing there likely won't be much less than that, unless maybe you are super flexible on dates and get lucky.

Unfortunately can't go the the game but I found a reasonable deal for ya using my new favorite travel search engine (travel.bing.com). I'm sure you can get similar results in Kayak, but Bing includes a recommendation on whether to buy now or wait (if it thinks prices will go down)

Anyhow, if you don't mind flying out of OAK and returning to SFO, here are two fares that get you into Columbus (so no need to rent a car!) for $353:
