So I randomly stumbled upon a tidbit about when Orson Charles was being recruited, he knocked over Florida's championship crystal trophy on a recruiting.

I wasn't too familiar with Charles, so I googled his recruiting profile. According to rivals, Charles had a 2.43 GPA in high school and scored 600 on the SATs. I thought those figures were below the NCAA minimum standards? My guess is that he re-took the SAT's or his GPA magically improved, since he went to high school in SEC country.

Everyone knows that the SEC has extremely low academic standards, but what I found even more alarming was his performance in college.

Tim Tebow scored an 890 on the SAT and graduated from Florida with a 3.7 GPA and was an Academic All American.

Not only does the SEC have low academic standards, but it appears that they are giving their athletes grades (and not just C's to remain eligible). It makes you appreciate the Pac 12 a little more. As much as people like to make fun of ASU, I doubt they have similar practices in terms of grades.

Just another competitive advantage for the SEC.

The SEC's standards may be low, but this quote proves nothing. You would have to look at the entire George team and learn if it had an overall high GPA. Charles could be a late bloomer - think Russell White.

Tebow had a 3.5 GPA in high school.
