There were a few other items that were bubbling under that didn't quite crack the top five. Linebacker Jason Gibson looked exceptional during some of the Saturday sessions, but it was hard to tell how much of that was due to general dominance and how much of it was because he was going against a second unit offense which had a line that struggled.

Tight end Richard Rodgers has gotten a lot of praise from the coaches this fall - he hasn't had an outstanding spring in terms of statistical output - but like the fullback, most of his value will come from his blocking.

The defense also has to replace the middle - with inside linebackers Mychal Kendricks and D.J. Holt and safeties D.J. Campbell and Sean Cattouse all moving on. Josh Hill and Alex Logan appear to have a head up as far as the safety position goes, but the inside linebacker position is far from settled. David Wilkerson will get an extended look this fall, and Nick Forbes also had some looks as did Steven Fanua. Robert Mullins, who's back for his sixth year, has seen consistent work with the first unit.

Jeez, if the offense can be better (Maynard sounds like he has a much better grasp on things, we could get some actual mileage out of TE and FB, etc.) this could be a surprisingly good year. Expecting some more cannon sounds this fall

Ted, why didn't you mention Tiny Moala in your assessment of the defensive line?

Has to be an oversight. As for Lopa and Barr, they need to get much bigger to be anything more than passing down specialists.

Jackson Bouza's penchant for making diving catches and catches along the sidelines qualify as spectacular to me,contrary to the article. The incoming freshmen need to play well to beat him out of #3 WR. Of course that Anderson kid has come out of nowhere and done well too.

"Spectacular" makes for good highlight videos, but "consistency" is necessary to win games.

he has really slimmed down and is now not only quick, but still is one of the strongest guys on the team. He may be one of those Blaz development guys.

I was commenting based on the article saying that Bouza is consistent but not spectacular. Are you disagreeing with the article by saying he isn't consistent?

I don't know enough to agree or disagree with the writer's evaluation; however, I disagree with his negative conclusion. I'd gladly trade "spectacular" for "consistent" and have high hopes for Bouza. Fortunately, you seem to think he's both, which is even better!
