P12 Network will broadcast 35 football games over the 13 week schedule. That averages out to 2-3 games a week. 140 basketball games covering 12 teams averages out to 11 games per team. Actually somewhat higher since most of the games are P12. Someone explain to me how the new arrangement is an improvement over previous seasons with DirecTV Sportspack. What am I missing here?

"The network will broadcast 35 football games, including multiple games during Labor Day weekend, 140 men's basketball games and 50-60 women's basketball games this season.

"In the 13 week schedule, we have either the first or second pick in seven of those weeks so our content will be good," Stevenson said. "These are going to be good football games.""

Well it will be part of your basic cable package. Not to mention this is in addition to everything that will be on ESPN and Fox, as part of the 3b media deal.

Any word on AT&T Uverse picking up the P12 network?

The advantage is that every Pac 12 football and basketball game will be televised. Up until now, there were always some games that we couldn't watch on TV.

directv with the sports pack was hard to beat in terms of value, but the p12 network IF direct picks it up would be part of the regular package and be available for everyone in market without the additional purchase of the sportspack. There will be additional games - ie every basketball and football game available nationally. For someone in LA (or Colorado) who wants to watch Cal basketball or football, it's way better. There will be better scheduling for TV - ie no overlapping games with blackouts - though that might lead to worse scheduling for actual attendees.

The big benefit to Cal fans IMO - with the cable carriage on basic, Cal fans will be able to watch more Cal games, and also know some bunk network like FSN is not underpaying for the content.

What directv does is up to them... P12 isn't asking for anything more than they got from cable... or more than what BT Network got from directv. If they chose not to carry, I suggest that P12 fans flock to cable and in a hurry to show they won't put up with it. parts of cable suck, but it's the only way to send a message.

My biggest hope is that the coverage won't blow fist-size chunks like FSN.

We are also long time directv people. With the sports pack we got most of the football games in the Pac 10/12. Not so many for basketball. My understanding of the agreement with cable is that we in Northern California will get the NorCal feed with Digital starter package. Sounds like the national and other regional feeds may need a special package if they are available at all. Personally, I'm hoping Directv picks up the network, and soon. We just got our first HD TV ( a gift), and haven't added HD content yet because we don't want the two year contract for getting the new equipment if we can't get the pac12 network. And I'm not a great Comcast fan.

Well for comparison, I was watching the big ten network yesterday for a few minutes and the ex-athlete in studio could barely read. painful. also a lot of cheesy composed music.

No word, as far as I know. Here is the link to request chanels on Uverse. I've asked all my frinends and family to fill it out, so hopefully AT&T will pick it up.

Thanks for the link. I filled it out. If uverse doesn't carry the Pac-12 network, I will quickly become a former uverse customer.

I clearly remember filling this survey out a few months ago, but went ahead and submitted it again. No idea if both will count, but just in case, it won't hurt to vote early and vote often.
